This next week in Wisconsin--Voter ID law could be voted on
As always, this has to do with R's fears of cheating (by someone other than themselves).
As proposed the ID law would restrict the right to vote to people with military IDs, driver's licenses and a state-issued ID card, a valid U.S. passport or a Tribal ID or naturalization papers.
Photo ID cards issued to college students (even those from state universities) would not be acceptable.
It's very likely they will try to do this in order to influence the April 5 Supreme Court elections--now being conducted in the heated fallout of the R's union busting.
Badgers--keep an eyeout for what's happening with this bill as they may be used against you at your polling place.

OMG the horror of making people prove they are who they say they are before they vote.

3. The problem goes deeper than that
Many people in the minority communities would have significant trouble getting state IDs, even though they are supposed to be free on request. The cost and hassle of ordering a birth certificate, which is required to get the ID, and just getting to the DMV office (no car, unable to take off work during open times, etc.) could mean many won't be able to vote. And low-income people and students do tend to move around more often, which would require a new ID after every move. This is outrageous on so many levels. And in a state that is "broke," it is estimated to cost several million dollars in training of election workers, changes to the voter database, providing free IDs, opening DMV offices more hours, etc. But of course preventing a very few cases of one particular type of voter fraud is more important than anything else.
How do they cash their welfare checks without a state ID?
Hell just to open a bank account in order to direct deposit their welfare check they need all kinds of documents.

Dead people and Mexican nationals don't do any of that stuff.

Hooray for Wisconsin, if that bill passes.
And now let's get similar bills in the other 48 states (Nebraska has had one for years).
To be perfectly blunt, the real reason the primitives don't like such laws is that it makes it more difficult for the Dems in the machine-operated blue cities and blue states to steal elections.
That's all there is to it; nothing more than that.

I would bet any amount that if the people being "targeted" by this voted GOP, they would want DNA samples and letters from the doctor that delivered them in order to vote.

OH MY!!!!!
That's a one, two punch for the democrat party. First their taxpayer funded campaign donations are halved and now fraudulent voters denied. Looks like the donks are going to have to find a new way to cheat on elections.
I am getting a real man crush on this Walker fellow.

The moonbats know that if you had to prove eligibility, we'd have a different president.

Uh huh.
In 1960, in 1976, in 1992.....
And George Bush in 2000 won Florida by a damned lot more than 673 votes.

Good. Hope it passes.

Make that 47. We have it here in Virginia as well.
I had to show photo ID the first time I ever voted, and that was in 1978.

there was wide spread reports of fraudulent registrations by several liberal organizations, they went as far as to have their people sworn in as official registrars and would register people with no ID and they encouraged people to register more than once, we all remember this happening.
