I was up in NH last weekend with Sparky, and thought I'd post some of the pics I took. Springtime my ass, there's still a LOT of snow up there.

The retaining wall (or natural waterfall, depending on the temp.)

You'll be happy to know a good chunk of it melted over the past week. Rain and 50-degree temps will do that. However, the pile that Laddie was standing on will not be totally gone until, oh, sometime in April.
-
As long as its gone by June. :cheersmate:
-
Brrrrrr. Hey Sparky, you got those serious sun screens on your house? Do you like em?
-
Are you talking about the blinds? I have screens on the windows and the back sliding glass door, no sunscreens to speak of.

Nope, it looked like you have really dark screens on your windows, but it could just be the light, and everything looking darker because of the snow in comparison.

Well, the blinds are pretty dark wood, and they're not neutral to the street, which would give the impression of darker windows/screens.

Don't let him fool you Tots...it's not because of dark screens, lack of light, OR the wood blinds, he just never cleans his windows. :lmao:
Good thing he'll have me there to do that for him soon, though, huh.

Pretty home, Sparky!
For some reason, some time back, I thought you had been complaining about having an old house, that you didn't like.
Scoobie....come visit in The Spa, and do a little "dishing" about cleaning windows....inquiring minds, ya know. :-)

I don't either. Except the one that got egged last Halloween. So I have one clean window.

That may have been me who said that...I do live in an old house. For now. Me and the kids will be moving up with Sparky in June.

BS for BSing her. It's MY dog.

LOL
In that case, I deserve the BS.
And so do you. :D
-
I'm not a fan of poodles, whether toy or standard, but they are exceptionally smart dogs.
Back to the snow, I guess.......
-
Even with the rain and warmer temps, that pile isn't going away anytime soon. That will be the last bit to disappear.
I'll venture a guess here and say April 18th will be the day there's no more snow in the yard.
-
I spent the summer between soph and junior year of college in Maine. Went the second week of June. I swear, they said the snow had only been gone a little over a month, and that the ice had finally completely melted off the lake, only a few weeks before.
Since I was a swim instructor....I would swear it melted only a few days before I got there!!! Damn lake never did warm up the entire summer. :banghead:
-
Yeah, when Scoobie and the kids get up here, they're going to be expecting those warm Gulf waters, or the shallow stuff like they find in Cape Charles...
Not gonna happen...
-
Wow, so Scoobs will be a New Englander hey?? Hopefully. you will take a jaunt to DownMaine sometime.....If you go to the Falmouth Walmart, drop by Lawn and garden

Nope, not at all.
Don't know about you, but getting the pool set up and watching the kids splash around while we relax on the deck, fire up the bbq, and have a cold one, is all this girl is looking forward to.

I don't blame you, The atlantic ocean tends to be frigid up this neck of the woods...If you have a private pool, you'll be all set!!!

Not so sure about that...I think Sparky's gonna be a little busy.

Well it is just a thought...Sparky, I am sure is up to the task. I sincerely hope it works out for you both(and the kids of course).

For those venturing up to New England in the near future,it's snowing.....sigh.......again.... :-)

Just one more reason to cozy up in front a fireplace is all. It's all good.

Good thing I've still got some firestarter logs and a few bundles of firewood left. Oh, and cleaned out the fireplace finally...

I distinctly remember Sparky intoning:

The kids aren't going to finish out the school year where they are?

That really was about his windows, and I'll leave it at that. :-)

My daughter is fine with switching (nervous, but fine), and a positive of it happening now rather than waiting until school is out is that she'll get an idea of the difference in curriculum and will have all summer to get up to speed (if necessary) when school starts again in the fall. We've talked to her a lot about it, she wants to do it this way, and she's excited to make the move.

It will help her to meet kids too, before school gets out.
-
Agreed.
Meeting kids over the summer can be hard if you don't live near them.
If you meet and exchange contact info prior to the cessation of the school year, you're much better off.

There are plenty of kid-friendly activities around there that I can also get her involved in over the summer. I'm sure she'll run into some of her classmates in the process.

I was thinking of you today when I saw softball mitts. getting her on a town/school team. I wasn't sure how old she was, or if she was sport orientated.

hinterlands? Seriously? And we'll still be here, deb...but we'll be (ahem) otherwise occupied more than normal... :naughty:

Look at the bright side, hon--there will STILL be snow on the ground when you get here... :whistling: :fuelfire:

When I was a freshman in college...I went home with my boyfriend Mother's Day weekend. To Skaneateles NY. I took spring clothes. There was snow on the ground. I spent a week in the hospital when I got back to school, I was sooooo sick. :bawl:
Summer between sophmore and junior year of college, I spent on Lake Sebago, Maine, working at a private girl's camp, as a waterfront instructor - teaching swimming, water-skiing, canoeing, lifeguard, and counselor. The ice had just thawed off the lake, a few weeks before. Like getting into a large bowl of ice water. :o :o :o
Scoobs....I have a couple of pairs of long johns and ski overalls that I will never use again...where do you want me to send them?

Bright and sunny here!
And 24 degrees. With a windchill of 9. Yay, spring!
-
No snow in town but LOTS in the mountains above us. An area I like to fish (the High Lakes) will probably not be accessible until well after the 4th of July.
Oh, as of the 24th we are at 103% of normal rainfall. It didn't stop raining until this morning.
