Well, I called out on the first, because I have a short temper and don't want to get fired for yelling at a customer for:
Spending all my tax dollars on candy with their foodstamp cars
on cigarettes and blunts then taking out money from the cash portion of their foodstamp cards
not speaking English
I hate this time of the month, I work at a 24 hour Rite Aid,
I worked overnights for the longest time, into the first, and people would be lined up at the ATM to take every dollar of their foodstamp money off their cards and then buy their blunts and cigarettes with them, with enough money left that I'm sure many of them use to buy weed and other various drugs.
About a quarter of them can't speak a word of English.
I think the whole system needs to be gotten rid of, you don't work, you don't eat. It'll weed out the lazy
OK, that might be a bit extreme, but get rid of the cash portion, and make the Food Stamp part cover nothing but necessary items (Milk, Bread, Eggs, Cereal, toilet Paper [what goes in must come out haha])
And if they need money to put in their Cadillacs and Lincolns, give them a GAS ONLY CARD

Here! Here!
I say make the ****ers pick up trash on the side of the road for that money. Might as well get something for America out of it.

Late Sunday afternoon, I was in an adjacent county for work. On the way home, stopped in at the local Walmart (might be the only one in that county).
Cashier went on a low-voiced rant. Apparently I was his first customer in a while that wasn't a food-stamper. There were only a couple of lines open, and none near him..so I guess he just needed to vent. He was probably in his mid to late 20's.
And did he vent....all very low voiced, but still. He had no clue who I was, or that I wouldn't complain to anyone(which I wouldn't do). He not only went off on food-stampers, but Mexicans who couldn't speak English. Any one of his sentences could have gotten him fired, forget the whole rant. I don't think he even cared at that moment, he was flat-out over the whole situation.
RB was with me, and had checked out in a different line. Was telling her about it on our way home. Her mother in law, lives in that county in an adjacent town, and she said the MIL has mentioned many times that there are more and more Mexicans moving into the county and she's not too thrilled about it. (MIL is 98 and a die-hard Democrat)
Lot of angry people out there....some more than others...but the anger is there. Even in Podunk, Tn.
Eventually it's all going to boil over... :(

Interesting, I did this rant just yesterday. Mexican lady in line in front of me, 6 kids and a "man", bought $1.00 of gum and took out $600 in cash on a EBT card. I have never felt so violated.
-
I never thought you could take cash from an EBT card... I thought they were food only and the store flagged them as such.
-
I thought so too, but this is California.
-
Yes, that would be an entirely different world from North Carolina and Tennessee. Here, it's food-only. That doesn't stop them from selling their EBT balance for cash.

I have been propositioned several times in grocery store parking lots to trade a given amount of food stamps for cash.

I don't know what the penalties are....but the person buying them from the person they are assigned to, can get in a lot of trouble if caught. Regardless of whether or not the not assigned person paid for them, it's still an illegal transaction, and the NA person is actually committing fraud by using them, and possibly a felony depending on the value of the food stamps in their possession.
