'That's it - the biggest disaster in the world, right there': Haunting footage of 9/11 captured by NYPD helicopter as towers fell

Newly released footage from NYPD Helicopter on 9/11. It has been 10 years and it is really tragic and I could not watch all of the video. It really brings back the emotions of 9/11 for me.

I remember some early footage that was taken in either a police or news helicopter, they were flying around the WTC and you could see snippets of people trying to be saved, they were hanging out the windows, it was horrifying, those poor people, maybe having the hope that someone could help them and no 1 could.

That's absolutely terrible. Good footage, but bad footage. I can't think of any other way to say it. Heart wrenching...

I remember that so well. It really horrifies and saddens me that they could not rescue those poor people trapped above the crash zone. Even if they did, not everyone could be rescued. Simply, it was too dangerous due to a lot of smoke and updraft and no safe place to land. :( :bawl:

Not to mention that heat rises. I wonder if they were feeling it from where they were flying even. Can't imagine being any closer to it. Let alone right above it. I think that literally be searing hot.

Hot air is less dense than cold air... I bet they had a difficult time flying around the area, not to mention the smoke.
