Teabagger Gets Smacked Down In Two Sentences
I was talking to my Dad yesterday, and we got to discussing this whole SB 5 nonsense going on here in Ohio. My Dad is a lifelong Democrat (it's a longstanding tradition on that side of my family), but he did have a brief flirtation with being a Conservative back during the '80s and early '90s. Listened to Rush Limbaugh, voted Republican, the whole deal. We used to have some EPIC debates when I was younger. As I've gotten older and have been able to better communicate the stances of the Left, he's slowly come back to the fold. Plus, he's always been a very strong Pro-Union guy (he was a public school teacher and his father, my grandfather, was a Union engineer for Westinghouse his entire life).
Anyway, he was telling me that he had gotten into a discussion with a group of the other people at his Cardiac Rehab regarding SB 5, and inevitably ran into a Teabagger decrying all the ills of those dirty, evil Unions. There were a few others there who agreed that Unions were ruining everything and that getting rid of them would be the best thing ever conceived.
He said that as the discussion wore on, a man who had been working in another area came over to the group, paused, and said, "I started working for GM back when I was 20 years old making two dollars an hour. I joined the Union so I wouldn't RETIRE making two dollars an hour." Then he just walked on.
DEAD SILENCE.

So he spewed out that line then walked away and that is considered winning the debate?
So if I say you are a poopy head and walk away does that mean I win?

9. All those FOOLS who hate unions need to grow the hell up
and realize that their own lives would be far worse if we didn't have unions in this country.
On the other hand, all of our lives would be much better if unions were still bigger, stronger, and present throughout a larger part of our economy.
Unions Gave Us:
* The right to have and enforce regulations that protect workers from unsafe conditions.
* The right to get paid for every hour we work, without being expected to put in unpaid time in off the books as a condition of keeping a job.
* The right to work only a reasonable number of hours per week, because we have a right to a personal and family life outside of work
* The idea to fairness and equality in pay scales, so that everyone SHOULD get paid the same for doing the same job. This hasn't been implemented yet, and it never will be if unions don't become strong enough again to force companies to do it.
* The idea that Everyone should be able to retire some day. Not just executives. And when they do retire, the company they work for NOW should see that they won't be living in poverty THEN after they retire, because people deserve better after putting in years of loyal hard work.
And far more...
Imagine where we would be if unions had been able to maintain their strength in the economy, and in our political system.
And you need to grow up and realize that everything you complain about in corporations is done in the unions.
The unions don't fight for your rights out of the goodness of their hearts. The union bosses make a lot of money out of fools like you.

Poor guy. I wonder if his dad lies to him often. This is clearly another one of their imaginary debates they often engage in then post about so they can look witty to the other DUmmies.

If I had to guess his dad didn't lie, he made this up totally.

You're right. There's a common theme. A conservative sets something up, the DUmmy shuts him down with an amazingly witty one liner and walks away while the conservative stands there completely befuddled. Their little debate stories would be more credible if they'd start them with, "once upon a time..."

They have followed this fundamental pattern since primitive bouncyball perfected the art years ago. Its a shame she no longer posts.

I'm going to try it.......
I was talking to a liberal co-worker the other day and he was talking about how we can't go after the unions like this because so many goods are made by union workers. I looked at him and said, "I wasn't" and walked away. He couldn't say anything.
Hey, it works great! Too bad nobody ever believes stories that follow that pattern.

:bouncy:
Absofrigginglutely NOT! those conversations don't go on in Cardia Rehab, too much conversation going on between the Patient and the Rehab Tech.

Yeah we see these types of bouncys at DU. Its a liberal fantasy. Liberal intelligence defeats all debate with a single word of wisdom.
--Its like porn for those who worship at the feet of Marx.
-
I didn't know y'all had a name for it. I will use the appropriate verbiage from now on. :bouncy:

There are numerous scripts (waves at Nadin) for bouncys.
Grocery store checkout line, waiting room while getting a car serviced, restaurant and so on...almost always a quick smack down, the conservative sulking off redfaced with cheering and applause from all around.

That quote is fallacious in the extreme, anyway. Auto workers have been making way more than two dollars an hour since the fifties. A buddy of mine in high school was working changing tires at Michelin making $11.00/hr., in '75.
What bullshiite.

Yeah, I wrote it but I didn't coin the term. That goes back to someone at our old home at CU.

If you start off making two dollars an hour and retire making two dollars an hour you must suck as an emplyee. Also not moving on and moving up in employment must be a DUmmie thing.

I agree BEG!

Pam Dawson is a bouncy spawning industry in and of herself. Who could forget her perilous run-on with a car at the laundromat, her chin held high trek to her local food bank, her luxurious cruises, her health crises, her marital woes, her parental woes. :mental: :lmao:

I love this game, but I have JOKES!
Okay, Okay; A Conservative, a liberal, and an Independent walk into my bar with political shirts on to fit their line of thinking. I look at the liberal, and say "Get the **** out of my bar!"
I kind of twisted the joke from Grand Torino, but you see what I'm getting at It has about the same mentality as these bouncies the DUmors tell. :lmao:
-
At least my Dad always told me the truth. He explained how unions work when he was managing a local truck line. The workers were doing perfectly fine with wages and bennies. Then they got greedy and voted in the union. Owner made good on his threat to move out of the state if that happened. Drivers and my Dad were out of a job. My Dad got picked up immediately by a competitor; workers didn't. Dad said, "See, that's how unions work."
-
He joined the union because he had to if he wanted to work there.
-
my grandfather, was a Union engineer for Westinghouse his entire life).
My dad was an engineer for Westinghouse. Activity and agitation started to try and unionize the engineers. There was much drama and consternation in the household. My dad was dead-set against it, because "engineers are professionals." They locally voted it down in the end.
-
Want to put the smackdown on a DUmmie? I can do it in ONE sentence:
"How's that 'hopey-changey' shit working out for ya NOW?"

DEAD SILENCE.
Succinctly stated, "I am a bong-brain addled union EMPLOYEE (not worker) high-school drop out that is compensated with $37.48 per hour plus zero co-pay, zero-drug pay health insurance, and, zero pension, zero 401K contribution benefits all for slapping go/no-go stickers on windshields in Detroit."
Gotcha...
-
These people are clinical.
-
$2.00/hr is still a lot to pay some union goon to hang out in the factory parking lot, drink 40's and smoke blunts.
-
DEAD SILENCE.
Not really any other way to respond to such stupidity.
-

Amen, BEG! "Entitlement" is the name of the game. DUmmies think that as long as they show up for work and do a lackluster job that barely qualifies as competent (and sometimes not), they are entitled to a big, fat raise every year. Unions take away people's responsibility in doing decent work and fighting for their own raises.
-
These people are clinical.
Clinical as in clinically insane? Yes, I'd definitely agree.
