I applied for a position on Tuesday and today got the below response...

We regret to inform you at this time you are not considered as competitive as other candidates

....W. T. F.???????...My efffin resume has five + years experience and this position would be a downgrade from where I have worked in the past doing the same exact work... Help a DU brother out..love to hear your thoughts.

Given the 0bameconomy, probably the other candidates have a Ph.D. while the champion bouncier Smith has merely a GED.

All the other applicants were smarter than you, had more relevant and recent experience than you, smelled better than you, could pass a piss test and didn't claim that they were a "leading poster on Democraticunderground.com" as the first of their described formal qualifications.

Whinging Dumbass.

Why would he post this on a public forum???  Being a loser should be something kept within the privacy of your own home.

I think this is a rhetorical question -

I suspect being "not considered as competitive as other candidates" is a polite, unobjectionable (read as: 'unable to sue over') way of saying 'dumb as a box of rocks'. The fact he posted the rejection at DU to get help in understanding it from the other primitives confirms his diagnosis as terminally stupid.

I shall help 'hep you to understand'.  You can thank your 'king' Obama for putting out of work so many qualified people that you now sink to the bottom of the pile. Basically there are several other candidates and they are better qualified then you or who just 'look' better then you when all the paper stuff is equal. this is happening to a lot of people with extensive resumes and it leaves employers to make decisions that are perhaps superficial once all things are the same. This is where the people skills or how you write and present your resume may become more important because there are a lot of qualified people out there. Another matter is that your experience may not be as relevant as you think it is. It helps to streamline resumes for the exact position one is applying for, especially if it is a job that you want. Most initial screenings are done electronically for 'match words' before they are ever seen by a human being.

Okay, DUmmies, just because I want to be a contrarian asshole this morning, let's take your claims at face value and go from there, shall we?  I mean, it's so boring to just pile on, look at your situation/rant from this perspective:

You yourself admitted that this job would be a downgrade from what you did in the past, be it meth lab, professional student, disgruntled fry cook, what have you.  Employers, believe it or not, do in fact try to put round pegs in round holes so as best to fill the position for which they've advertised more than, say, a week.  If in fact you were overqualified for the position for which you applied--highly doubtful, since posting on Facebook and DU isn't really a job so much as a waste of your former employer's IT resources, they're going to find someone better (read: less) qualified than you, because you'll get bored almost immediately, start phoning it in, making dumbass mistakes which will lead to your early termination if you haven't already quit.

Does that help, DUmb****?

Guessing the Che T-shirt probably didn`t help either or something regarding every DUmmy`s "**** authority" attitude was said.

His resume probably showed 8 jobs over the last 10 years and he blamed Bush for losing all of them.

I wouldn't put it past the DUmmies to make a resume political.

In the past I managed the office of my brother's machine shop. It was a small business and the most employees he had at one times (including myself and him, since he was a working boss) was 6 people.
He didn't/couldn't afford a company to do screening so I did what I could with the internet to check the applicants out.

The small companies like my brother's used local sheriff's site and whatever county and state sites that allow access to find criminal records. Now that facebook and other social sites are so popular, it would not surprise me for small companies (and larger ones as well0 to be running applicants names to see what comes up.

When you can read what is on their pages it gives you a better understanding of these people and weather you want them representing your company or not. And from what I read that comes from DU....I would not recommend to hire any of them.

rsmith shows the Primitive sense of entitlement when he needs an explanation for an employer's decline letter.
Its a standard form letter, all it really says is you didn't get the job, Normal people understand this, shrug and move on to the next opportunity.

But no, rsmith has to throw a hissy fit, demanding an explanation.
Is this the only job you've applied for?

Who was  the DUmmy who got fired for surfing at DU all day and not working?
The thread(s) were posted here. Did that one get re-hired anywhere?

About a dozen years ago, my wife (girlfriend at the time) and one of her friends went out together applying for jobs.  Her friend wore an oversized black t-shirt that said "SLACKER" in white bold-faced letters.

I'll give you one guess who got a job, and who didn't.

I voted for rsmith in my DOY list, just for his outrageous bouncy tales.  He always came across in these stories as the most miserable, meanest sonofabitch you've ever met.  Chip on the shoulder as big as a boulder.  Wonder if personality traits like these seep through in an application and resume?  This is one guy you would never ever want to work with.  Just nasty all day long.  He's the type who would sue an employer on day one.

On a couple of occasions I have had the interesting duty of screening a pile of applications for professional positions.  Yes, they do.

The DUmmy's outrage comes from the constant sense of entitlement that progressives have.  If they apply for a job, they think they must get it.  If they don't, it means that there's something wrong with the company.

I would think it's more along the lines of "I applied, they should create a job for me whether I'm qualified or not, or their lousy greedy corporate pigs."

11. First of all, it's a boilerplate response...
...and you should not take it as having been custom generated for you. Second, I would not work for a company whose corporate culture would allow such a letter to go out to anyone. Whoever creates the standard form letters there has a real attitude problem and he or she is being allowed to get away with it. That says something about the company, and it's not a good sign.

Long story short: **** 'em and the proverbial horse they rode in on.

After which, Hannah Bell the raving communist says that that was the best response ever.

Then there is another point here even if he was taking a hit on his pay from getting the job, perhaps the company decided to get a Temp with his education and pay them minimun wage.

This is becoming very common in the work place, with all these educated people out of work they go to a Temp agency and will work for what ever they can get.      So someone who has worked for the company for 20 years is fired for what ever reason and a younger person with a newer degree in education replaces him for 1/4 the salary. the new worker is told that if they work out they will be hired on permint with health insurance and a 401K   After a year the new Temp is hired and does get a pay raise to 3/4 of the salary of the man he replaced and feels lucky.

This is one reason companys do not want unions, ----Just saying as I am anti union  except in severe cases.

One-quarter?  So a guy retires or leaves a company making $100K and the company thinks they can fill the position with some kid making $25K, WITHOUT benefits?  Do you REALLY believe that?

My head hurts.
