Oh my.
You know, it took some days, but franksolich finally reached the shores of Skins's island.
For a while there I was thinking that my fellow alum had planted underwater land-mines and nets so as to snare me before I could reach Skins's island--at any rate, I never could until now.
Since it's been a while, I decided to first check on the stupid or seditious (or both) activities of the cooking and baking primitives.

MRS. ALFRED PACKER

Freakin' cats!
I had a little less than half of an unfrosted chocolate cake in my 13x9 Pyrex baking dish. Bill had already had some with ice cream tonight, and I was planning on it with some strawberries. They got on the table and got to acting wild and knocked the damn thing onto the floor. It shattered completely.
Guess I'll just have ice cream and strawberries without the cake.
It's a good thing hippyhubby Wild Bill had already had his share before the cats ruined it, otherwise Mrs. Alfred Packer might be posting recipes for fried or roasted or boiled felinis delectis.

2. Damn cats, can't live with them, can't saute them with aromatics
Mine doesn't get up on the counter or tabletop, one of the bennies of having a cat who's pushing 18. However, when she had an accomplice, she'd unwind balls of yarn around furniture and all over the house. Then the two of them would try to look innocent.
After 12 hour night shifts, I was never amused.

4. One of my favorite childhood stories...
My sister made a birthday cake and left the layers on the table to cool. The cats got a hankering and ate what they wanted first. My sister ended up piecing the remaining parts together to make a butterfly and it was one of our all time favorites.
Damn cats! Sorry about your pyrex.
Yeah, Pyrex is a good brand of glass cookware. The best.

5. Same story, different dessert! I had a siamese who ate the middle out of a coconut custard pie. I cut around the eaten part and sliced it into small slices. Sorry you missed your cake and lost your baking dish, HW, but I'll bet you can't stay mad at them very long--the little bastids!!!

13. Darn!
My old Pyrex shattered in oven, while filled with chicken/potatoes/vegs dinner! This was years ago, got the dish used from my mother, so it was very old. BIG loss, dinner + dish! Wondered what caused the muted explosion!
By the way, in case anyone cares, franksolich is working on another episode of the Packer clan down there in northeastern Oklahoma, trying--not succeeding thus far--to fit an exploding Pyrex dish in at the end.

15. That's odd that it was old Pyrex and still exploded. Usually, it's the newer stuff that isn't as good. Sorry for your loss.
Yeah, Mrs. Alfred Packer's current allegation is that eastern Asians bought Pyrex and changed the recipe for the glass, making it more susceptible to breakage.
In case anyone's forgotten, Mrs. Alfred Packer is a notorious racist sinophobe; doesn't like eastern Asians or the products they make.

one of the b*****s of having a cat
That was just really uncalled for.
-
Oh darn, her Pyrex dish broke?
-
frank, isn't it odd that you were discussing whether or not Pyrex dishes break and like magic the discussion veered towards a broken Pyrex dish.

Coincidence, sheer coincidence, madam.
Or perhaps not.
Only time will tell.
-
Frank, you saw my little story in another section about my exploding pyrex saucepan?
At any rate, these two have to be big as houses. Mrs. Packer is forever baking desserts. Big mountains of them, fit for a huge growing family, for just the two of them.

Well, hippywife Mrs. Alfred Packer is rather, uh, stout, based upon a photograph of herself she once posted.
As for hippyhubby Wild Bill, I dunno; Mrs. Alfred Packer once posted a photograph of him, and he looked average, maybe a little tiny bit of flab.
What Mrs. Alfred Packer doesn't mention is that the in-laws show up frequently for chow, which might go a long ways in diminishing those piles of food. The brother-in-law with three nostrils is especially the ravenous sort, an insatiable appetite.
I already mentioned this, but it's worth re-mentioning; some weeks ago, Mrs. Alfred Packer's mother-in-law accused her of being "uppity" because Mrs. Alfred Packer, when washing the dishes, cleans in between the tines of forks.

You're right, tons of them. Every day. That's why I can't understand her complaints about getting bugs in her flour. The baking she claims to do would use at least 25 pounds a week, so how does it get old and buggy?
-
Maybe THIS is why Undergroundpanter is feeling so poorly in that other thread?
Just a guess...

3 nostrils?

3 nostrils?
That's nothing for the Packer family. His sister has both eyes on the same side of her nose.

I wonder if it ever occurred to Ms Packer that if ya feed the cats enough, they tend to stay off your tables and counters? I have three damn near wild cats. They stay indoors for the most part every winter.. They know better than to jump up where I eat or prepare food.
Wonder why that is? Maybe it's because I feed them enough they don't have to look for food elsewhere.
