Do these Repuke Governors plan on busting the Teamsters too?

As in, there are other public school staff members who belong to the above union. Cafeteria staff, maintenance workers, custodians, etc., generally are unionized also. They have the same collective bargaining rights, step increases, pensions, etc., as the teachers do. Are they going to try to bust the Teamsters? Or is it just teachers they don't like?

Incidentally, I used to work for a non-profit agency for developmentally, and physically, disabled adults. We had a Union also. We had a pension (no employee contribution), bargaining rights, step increases (no merit pay), etc. It was very much like working in education. These agencies, and there are many across the country, are funded also with taxpayer dollars through Medicaid, and private contributions. I suppose these too will become a target. I wonder what their solution for these are. Throw these people out on the streets? Lock em up in an institution, like a Willowbrook? Excuse me, but where does it end? It seems as if nothing matters except FOR PROFIT BUSINESSES.

Sometimes I just want to SCREAM at what is happening to this country. People, be they children or disabled or elderly adults, don't matter anymore. We cannot make PROFITS on them.

We have to FIGHT THIS. Our compassion is what separated us from the Nazis, Communists, and Third World Countries.

5. Nationwide, the Teamsters are not so mild-mannered as a WI teachers union ...

They start going after any of the more powerful private-sector unions, they'll all band together, much like the cops have with the WI protesters (and I'm sure there are Teamsters out there in WI too).

My daddy's a retired Teamster, and I can tell you from hanging out w/a lot of 'em in my day ... shit will get a lot more ugly than what we're seeing in WI if the Pubs start messing w/them.

11. I once worked at a plant that was United Auto Workers...and they hired some non-union

people to do design work for another plant located in a different state. The first weekend, someone shot holes through the fromt windows and doors, which everyone entering the building saw first thing Monday morning...

Some unions are tougher than others.

12. I remember one day when Dad was on strike

they brought in strike busters to break through the picket lines. I was very young at the time, but these people worked ONE DAY and not a single one came back for the second. I suppose you can use your imagination what the dock workers "said" to them.

Unions almost always resort to violence.

My old man remembers in '67 or '68 where union thug teamsters took over Youngstown. They were vile. Beat people up, intimidation tactics, and a few people were even killed.

Yeah...nice guys.  :whatever:

Yep, I have been thinking that NGOs and charities should be held to the same standard that the evil insurance companies are. IOW, 85% of all income must go toward directly to the charities.

IIRC Red Cross is slightly under 50 cents per dollar donated (why I no longer donate) but Salvation Army is around 95 cents per dollar.

If the above were implemented the NGOs and private charities would go ballistic.

Without thuggery and violent crime, labor unions could not exist.

Once again, lurking DUmbasses - this is against PUBLIC sector unions - not private. Even FDR was against them, as public employees already yield too much influence.

Example --

Joe Smith doesn't like doing business with company A because of their union - Joe Smith goes to company B instead. If Company A gets too out of line, it will go bankrupt taking the union with it.

Joe American doesn't like doing business with Government A's union.. So he goes to Government B... wait... he can't, can he ?

And neither can you. That is the problem in a nutshell. Government unions have the capability of grabbing the Government by the short & curlies and not letting go - if left unchecked, they will always get what they want, and if not, they will contribute to and elect people who will give them what they want. In other words - Government unions pay to elect people to pay them- leaving the government in a position of not being able to balance itself out. Conservatives see the problem - FDR saw the problem, but apparently you idiots do not.
