Scott "Hosni" Walker Cutting Off Internet Access To Thwart Protesters?

Is Scott Walker Cutting Off Internet Access To Thwart Protesters?
Our guest blogger is Mike Elk, a freelance labor journalist and third generation union organizer based in Washington, D.C. You can follow him for more updates on Wisconsin on twitter at @MikeElk.
According to pro-labor protesters in Wisconsin, Gov. Scott Walker (R) may be taking a page from former Egyptian Dictator Hosni Mubarak and cutting off internet access to key protest organizers within the state Capitol building.
If you are in the Capitol attempting to access the internet from a free wifi connection labeled “guest,†you cannot access the site http://www.defendwisconsin.org /
The site has been used to provide updates on what is happening, where you can volunteer, and where supplies and goods are needed to support protesters. Administrators of the website were notified on Monday that the page is being blocked. Wisconsin Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate says that the site was put on a blacklist typically used to filter out pornography sites so that protestors inside the Capitol could not access this key site.
Former Wisconsin Assistant Attorney General Charles Hoornstra said that, if Walker is blocking the website, it could be a violation of state and federal laws concerning free speech laws. The accusation by the Wisconsin Democratic Party accompanies an accusation by the Teaching Assistants Association that Wisconsin state authorities caught off wife access to a room they had taken over as a headquarters inside of the Capitol.
..........................
Walker’s decision to take steps to block certain types of internet access to protestors comes as a new poll shows that public support for Walker is plummeting. A poll of Wisconsin voters, conducted by Democratic pollster GQR Research for the AFL-CIO between Feb. 16 and 20, shows support for organized labor in Wisconsin as high while support for Governor Walker is plummeting.

1. Hm. Not sure that's a good parallel.
It's kinda the same but kinda not. As a matter of course of doing business, internet access to certain websites can be cut off using an employers internet connection.
Those with smartphones or using other means of accessing the net will be just fine.

because it's taxpayer funded, and they are cutting off taxpayer voices. It's the people's house because they fund it, especially for something so simple as organizing a clear exercising of democracy.
Would you feel the same if they blocked the ability to call certain phone numbers from the available phones?
If government were a corporation (which would be fascism) you would have a point, but the last I checked, we are still a taxpayer funded Constitutional Republic. Our Constitution has been violated way too much in the name of "national security" and to cut off access to public facilities that taxpayers pay for is a bridge too far.
The "people's voices" fled to Illinois so they could keep the other people's voices from voting.
BTW - DUmbass, the content is still there and accessible.

3. Hopefully he takes another page from Mubarak's book
AND LEAVES THE COUNTRY! He belongs in chains, not in the governors office.
You know who belongs in chains?
Anyone who thinks they can rule by diktat rather than law.
Show me the law Walker violated.

If I lived in WI I would be pissed that the gov't was using my tax dollars to pay for internet that was open. Buy your own damn internet.

Shouldn't they actually be working instead of being on the internet?
-
You guys are not on your A-game today.
You were SUPPOSED to note the hypocrisy that the people who want to ban Limbaugh from Armed Forces Radio even though he is there through popular deamand suddenly think the government is supposed to supply all content even if that content incites people to shutdown their government posts (which is illegal in WI, donchaknow). Limbaugh would never tell the military to shutdown.

They can pay for a connection like anyone else or go to McDonalds The WIFI at the Capitol should be secure from anyone not an employee of the state getting access. The state wouldn't want those asshats hacking into the servers now would they?
-
If they think that Net access is restrictive in government offices, they should try it in mine.

I'm sure that's the only reason he needs to shut it down. There no such thing as a secure network. Especially if you're on the inside!

And I can't access hotsexybabeswithbigboobs.com at work. I swear they run this place like some kind of prison camp.

Why's that primitive? Because he's doing his job?

No kidding - I can tell you that accessing ANYTHING internet on a postal computer will get the Silent Service on your ass within a nanosecond. I get the heebiejeebies just touching a keyboard on one. Doesn't matter though - I have my HTC Incredible, so I get my net that way.

Exactly! Shouldn't these union cocksuckers at least do that, instead of on the taxpayers dime? I mean c'mon, if yer gonna **** with your employer, the taxpayer, shouldn't ya at least pay for it outa yer own pocket? Oh, that's right, the taxpayer should pay for all yer fantasies, shouldn't they????
Degenerate bastards!

So if they can't access their Facebook accounts, is that the 'Facism' they're always bitching about?

You forget sir, these particular lazy-assed union bastards are Gub'mint employed lazy-assed union bastards. They're genetically engrained to do everything at the taxpayer's expense. The poor, dumb bastards know of no other way, and union by-laws prevent them from researching to see if any other way might exist.

Yeah I know, pathetic, ain't it. Hell, I'd just be satisfied to break the chain of 3 and 4 generations of the same family continuing their "tradition" of cronyism! Once these pukes get into a dem regime, they hire all of their family members, friends, and girl/boyfriends who were never even qualified to take the dog for a walk!
Take a look at Detroit and Chicago if ya doubt me. They've turned both of 'em into cesspools, and ya see the same last names over and over for generations!
