Title: DUmmies and math don't mix.
Post by: ScubaGuy on February 22, 2011, 04:23:31 PM
I'm so glad that the DUmmies are so very, very smart.

DUH which way does the decimal point go? (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x478129)

And they wonder why they're stuck in minimum wage jobs.

How many jobs would Bank of America be able to make if CEO

gave up his salary?

CEO = $9,250,000

Average pay per worker = $35,000
(guesstimate by looking at pay scales for employees)

His salary divided by the the pay to the average worker.

$9,250,000/$35,000 = 264,285

So if the CEO gave up his salary there would be enough money to create 264,285 new jobs.

If he just cut his salary by 1,000,000 that would create 28,000

The reason there is a lack of jobs in this country is top executives and CEO's are stealing the money needed for potential jobs.

2. It's that simple

It's simple and it's fair.

It's also radical and socialistic.

10. Would you please re-do the numbers and post it again? I really

think this information is important for people to know. The numbers sounded a little funny to me but that is what the calculator said. The calculator is now in the trash. (Very old, sticky keys and lots of L's and 9's)

11. With benefits the fully burdened pay is likely >$50K

So that would be a total of 185 jobs. With around 200,000 employees they could increase their employment by about 0.1%.

Lousy freeper troll.

OK! so we'll just take the $9.5M and divide it fairly amonf the employees for true SOCIAL JUSTICE so the employees will see their net annual pay rise by...

*tacks calculator*

$47.50

nevermind...social justice doesn't pay enough</DUmbass>

Why not cut the $35,000 in half and hire double the amount of workers the OP wants?

The moron blames 'The Calculator' --  while typing her message on a great big calculator that has a 'traditional' calculator application installed -- and it doesn't matter if the primitive is using Windows, OS X, or Linux - nor does it matter if its a PC or a text/web enabled cellphone, palmtop, netbook, PDA or Pocket PC - they all have calculators.

Does the point. 285 job get 35 thou a year also? If so, I want it.

Give the DUmmy a break. He may be on to something. If this CEO would donate a million to the howling DUmmy mob, it could create 28,000 new jobs, each of which would pay a little under three (3) dollars a month. That's the DUmp's first step in bringing those WalMart manufacturing jobs back from Viet Nam and Bangladesh, and they'd be jobs that would never be lost to illegal mexicans. Now if the DUmp would get to work on labor laws to allow three bucks a month, and force deadbeats like bobbo the hobo and ugp to work them, we'd be getting somewhere.

Shouldn't even take a calculator. Common sense should tell anyone this:

$9,250,000/$35,000 = 264,285

Doesn't compute.

That's what happens when they are schooled with calculators and not with paper, pencil and brain....they never question what pops up on the calculator screen because they're simply to stupid to question it.

Had my son come in and look at that one and do some figuring in his head....he had problems. I explained that to get a close answer just multiple $35,000 by 100 people and you get $3 1/2 million...double that (200 people) and you get $7 million ....add another 100 people and you get $10 1/2 million so the answer is somewhere between 200 and 300 people not 264,285 people.

I spend most days working with Excel spreadsheets, and even I go back & audit the calculations on occasion.  Those of us who are old enough AND bothered to learn can calculate things on paper.

Yes, Ralph, but is that the very latest version of Excel, so you can calculate election returns?

I use a 10-key to check my spreadsheets.  I get laughed at for using such an old system.

No worries, it provides a way for me to earn money for my beer and travel money.

The very latest!  As long as I can calculate Monte Carlo simulations to prove election fraud, I'm good to go! (TIA mode)

I double-check a lot of stuff on a 10-key.  Really, that IS the only way to earn beer & travel money.

These are undoubtedly the same people who unquestioningly believe that U.S. troops killed 5% of the Iraqi civilian population in just a couple years (which, if true, would've averaged of several hundreds of deaths per day).

Well, there was no way they could compassionate opposing the war if they couldn't blame all the mass graves on the US somehow.  No way could that have been Saddam's fault.   ::) ::) ::)
