Are they aware that SS is from FDR and Medicare is from LBJ?:

My daughter filed her first income tax form...
She graduated from high school this summer and after months of trying, she landed her first job. She has been working part time (39 hours a week) for min. wage (that's a whole other subject).

Yesterday, we sat down to file her 1040EZ form. My girl is pretty smart, and knows about SS and Medicare, but it really didn't hit her until now.

her: "I'm never going to retire and draw my SS out am I?"

me: "I don't know what to tell you baby. I used to believe it, but I'm just not sure anymore."

Why is 39 hours a week considered part-time to her, anyways? And I do think her daughter might collect both in the distant future if she continues to make a low wage and lives to be around 94.

Can you imagine having a DUmmy help you file your tax return?........You would either get screwed, or file a fraudulent return.

Actually, the mom has a great point.  We should dismantle Social Security and go with privatized retirement accounts.  I can't believe a DUmmy actually sees this!   :stoner:

39 a week is part time huh? I'm working 39 hours a week, I wonder what those 10-15 hour a week folks are then?

Employers consider anything less than 40 hours a week to be part time. For some reason the DUmmies believe that is the magic number where all the wonder free "bennies" will be bestowed.

Seeing as how the young lady just graduated HS and has her whole life ahead of her, this would be the perfect time for one of the "teaching moments" that DUmmies espouse. In this case, the importance of looking ahead and taking responsibility for one's own future instead of depending on politicians and government to hold all your eggs in their one basket. Education in marketable skills, saving, sacrificing, planning and self-reliance should be taught.

Instead, it's "I don't know what to tell you baby. I used to believe it, but I'm just not sure anymore." Which basically translates to, "Let's just hope for the best." Is it any wonder we've got a couple of generations of entitlement-minded dullards on our hands?

No, no, no we should dismantle all state retirement programs and put everyone under social security to broaden the base of the pyramid.  ( and wouldn't that make the dummies howl ).  Redistribute the wealth and make everyone equally miserable.  It is the Obummer way. :sarcasm:

Why should public employees be exempt from social security?  The federal system was converted years ago from CSRS to the current FERS system.  If it was good enough for the Fed it should be good enough for the states.

Time for the dummies to step up to the plate and fully embrace FDR's ponzi scheme for all or none  :fuelfire:

I'm exempt from social security, which means I can't touch it when I retire (unless I decide to work after retirement to build up my credits).  I'm perfectly fine with it because it's not a guaranteed program.  Baby boomers are about to deplete it anyway.

Congress critters and the president also need to have their pension plans done away with and folded into Social Security.  Their  plans are the ultimate in what unions want .  Work less than ten years and be able to retire.

Hell. I'm surprised a DUmmy even knows what a W2 is. Most, if not all, have never seen one.

The more knowledgeable ones will think it was the spy plane that was shot down over Russia back in the '60s.

And just who the hell is this Fica guy and why is he taking so much of my money.   :argh:

This bouncy tale is reminiscent of the DUmp grandmothers who would start threads describing how cute their little illegitimate grandchild is, giving the finger when President Bush comes on TV.

By the time they apply the SS offsets you will end up with barely enough for your efforts to support a Biafran.   Double dipping has been severely curtailed in recent years. What sucks is that it can also effect the spouse too.  think there may be a link with more specifics on here somewhere I think if not,

Not necessarily. She is making minimum wage and is probably an hourly employee. Usually companies consider 35 hours as full time for hourly and some even go as low as 30. Averaged out over a year usually. The restaurant I worked at would average it out over a  quarter and if you dropped under 30 then you were moved to part time. This kept the full timers from losing their benefits in the winter when stores had to be closed early due to inclement weather or slow volume.

Of course this was years ago so things may have changed. Girl ought to be thankful she has a job in this horrible Obumble economy.

FICA and Medicare are very insidious taxes because unknown to most Americans and 99.9% of DUmbasses is that your employer kicks in half. However it is not the employer kicking in half it is the worker because then the chief could give you that extra 7.8 percent into your check.

By the way, those asshole greedy public sector workers and teachers DO NOT PAY INTO FICA OR MEDICARE. Yet they cry to pay in a measly 5% of their SS and MEDICARE payment because they are public.

If I were a governor that shit would stop even if I had to call special elections.

In Idaho, anything over 23 hours is considered full time. Helps to keep the burger joints honest!

So this is probably a bull shit bouncy!

Or the national Guard, just like Walker did! Most DUmbasses don't know or care to know, he called upon them to replace them if they didn't show up for work! DUmmies think he called 'em to knock heads! If only..........

And I'm curious about something else--why the hell would she care given the fact that there's no mention of SS/FICA taxes paid on the 1040EZ form, only on the 1040 long form?

Very few DUmmies have ever seen a 1040A. 1040EZ is all they need to claim their EIC payment.

She graduated from high school this summer and after months of trying, she landed her first job. She has been working part time (39 hours a week) for min. wage (that's a whole other subject).

There's an awful lot being said -and implied- in these short statements.
"after months of trying, she landed her first job"... I'll give her that one because I know the unemployment rate in her age group is currently at 19%. However, it could be that she wasn't putting a whole lot into landing that first job. The statement implies that she was burning up the shoe leather sunup to sundown but does not flesh out the details.
The part time thing, depending on the state could be 39 hours, employers having to pay more comp. etc. at 40 hours so she gets a pass here too.
The minimum wage thing is what sticks in my craw. WTF does this mother expect? 40K and a company car at entry level? This whole DUmp dump she posted smacks of a parent instilling the ubiquitous entitlement drama in her kid.
"Princess, Darling, you are a battered victim in all of this and those filthy capitalist bastards owe you"

Christ, I WISH FICA was my biggest deduction.  Add what I pay AND my employer pays, and it still ain't half what I pay in federal taxes.

Tell me about it.  When I was a dairy farmer, I paid both halves of FICA.

Most years, he was my ONLY tax.

No, not really.  OTOH, I just checked and found out that the government is repaying the tax-free, interest-free, penalty-free loan I gave them over the past year.  Woooo...don't I feel special.

^5 Sparks! I am forever called out for pointin' that out to people. Ya know what happens if you're late payin' the blood suckers? They certainly don't return the favor, even though all the money they take and penalize us, wasn't ever theirs in the first ****in' place! In effect we get penalized for makin' money and not givin' them their share! Isn't that supposed to be covered under RICO?
