Title: WI Government Wages/Benefits List
Post by: Evil_Conservative on February 18, 2011, 10:23:31 AM
Just because I am in a pissy mood this morning and annoyed with union workers already...

Quote
ATTACHED: This is the official excel DPI database of teachers wages by school district. Look up your own district !!!

The current budget repair bill would have them paying about 5.8% towards their own retirement....right now, we the taxpayer, pays 100% of their generous retirement, and most of us pay 100% of our own retirement too.

AVERAGE WAGE AND BENEFITS (remember this is for about 9 months of work)

TEACHERS:

Milwaukee        $86,297
Elmbrook          $91,065
Germantown     $83,818
Hartland Arrwhd    $90,285     (highest teacher was $122,952-lowest was $64,942)
Men Falls          $81,099
West Bend       $82,153
Waukesha       $92,902
Sussex           $82,956
Mequon           $95,297
Kettle Mor       $87,676
Muskego        $91,341

STAFF:

Arrowhead - Bus Mng - Kopecky - $169,525
Arrowhead - Principal - Wieczorek -   $152,519
Grmtwn -  Asst Princ - Dave Towers - $123,222
Elmbrk  -  Burliegh Elemetary - Principal Zahn-  $142,315 (for a primary school!!)

UNIVERSITY of WISCONSIN STAFF (2009) (salary alone):

Michael Knetter - Prof of Bus  -  $327,828
Carolyn Martin -Chancellor Mad-  $437,000
Hector Deluca - Prof of Nutritional Science - $254,877 (really??)

(source:Madison.com -as the UW removed salaries from being posted online in 2007- why if they are so low?)

How about some other "public servant job" ???  What do they make?

Madison Garbage men (2009) (salary only):

    * Garbageman, Mr. Nelson earned $159,258 in 2009, including $109,892 in overtime and other pay.
    * Garbageman, Greg Tatman, who earned $125,598
    * 7 Madison garbage men made over $100,000
    * 30 Madison garbage men made over $70,000

MILWAUKEE CITY BUS DRIVERS (salary only):

136 Drivers made more than  $70,000

54 Drivers made more than  $80,000

18 Drivers made more than  $90,000

8 Drivers made more than  $100,000

Top Driver made  $117,000

(Source WTMJ)

(The average private bus driver makes $9-13 an hour (about 20,000 yr) with no pension, or healthcare.)

AND WE ARE SUPPOSED TO CONTINUE PAYING 100% OF THEIR GENEROUS RETIREMENT ? THEY HAVE SHUT DOWN SCHOOLS AS THEY DON'T WANT TO PAY 5.8% OF IT THEMSELVES ....REALLY?

They aren't even getting cuts, from what I understand.  The governor wants them to contribute to their own benefits to take the burden off of struggling taxpayer's.  It's either contribute to your own benefits or deal with layoffs.  Walker is trying to save jobs and this is the kind of reaction he gets - threats to him, his family, vandals at the Capitol, etc.  Not like this should surprise us or anything.

If I was in Wisconsin right now, I'd print out hundreds of these and stick them on windshields and buildings all over town.

Obviously Union Members have become the very thing they pretend to abhor.

I looked up some stats too EC and while the school system is rated very highly overall what school system wouldn't be with a 15:1 student teacher ratio and an average cost of 12k per student!  Blows the mind.

ETA: thanks girl, good work!

15:1 at 12K = $180,000 ....and the teacher gets half of that plus a lot of bennies....no business but government can operate like that.

Honest to God, if Walker pulls this off I will be the first to throw the Walker for president bumper sticker on my car.

Rush was just talking about this now and why the media isn't reporting it, and the average private industry workers makes $61,000 a year including benefits.

I already joked with my husband about this same thing!  We are going back to Wisconsin in August for my best friend's wedding.  I told him I'd put, "Scott Walker For President" on my car.  I'll get a lot of middle fingers, but it would totally be worth it.

I don't care if the school is "highly rated" or not.  For these exorbitant salaries and benefits, they are churning out some the dumbest kids in the country's history.  Did you see the kids in the mob?  "I dunno...duuh."  Not the least bit curious, kiddo?

I know kids around here who don't know how to read an analog clock.  I know a high school graduate who had trouble making change from a $20 for a $5.50 bill.

On the local call in radio show at noon today, there were some who are wishing for whatever's happening in WI, to happen to NY.  How about the rest of you?

I hear you Karin and totally agree.  This is what happens when we have a Federal Department of Education that usurps the authority of the states and local school districts.

Wow.

They really are underpaid.

That's some good money they make. I don't see why they should be complaining about contributing to their own benefits.

Thanks for posting this EC. That's quite an eye popper, you should have seen my wife's eyes bug out of her head when I showed her this.

It also got me thinking, curious as to see what I might find around here, in my state. Here's a little gem I just turned up concerning $30,000 pay hikes at SUNY-
http://polhudson.lohudblogs.com/2010/09/24/suny-chancellor-defends-pay-hikes-she-and-her-deputy-giving-up-housing-allowances/
Is it any wonder many of our kids graduate college as much as $40,000 or more in debt, right off the bat?
