Finished it for you. :whistling:
Why not make eye contact with a cop, smile and give them a wave---all five digits please.
I all ways feel safe with a cop around , have since I was a kid---- Cops are suppose to be the good guys, those that will do what no one but a fireman will do to rescue you in a bad situation.
Hell cops are human, how would you like a job where no one would look you in the eye, smile and say " Good to see you.?'
Nothing wrong with a nod of the head to recognise cops that will put their life on the line even for the worse of the worse people.
Perhaps I was raised wrong but I feel respect is due to these people who keep me and mine as safe as they can.
To not make eye contact is what one does with gang members, street people or crazy people.
Has life changed so much that the police have become a threat to us.????------Don't look at them don't get their attention, DANGER DANGER hide from them ??
So Texas cop, what are the red flags you in Texas get that make you suspicious of someone , is it body language, or perhaps why people are at a time or place they should not be at ?? If you speak to someone that will not look you in the eye, do you trust them ???
Case in point, a 14 year old girl in school was called into the principals office as someone had named her as the person who had done some vandalising. of the school property. The child had been raised in a culture to never look an adult in the eye, to keep her head bowed to superior authority. After she was taken away and charged due to the principal from Minnisota claimed she lied as she would not look at him , it was found that she was innocent of anything and her behavior was due to culture.
So how the heck do you Texas cops deal with all the cultures that may spell out different meaning to ours.??

It's not exactly "racial profiling", but moreso "Criminal Profiling". Unfortunately, most criminals also fit a certain racial profile. (Keyword: "most")

That's sort of what I'm going to talk about.

What I used to look for was suspicious activity or movements, nervousness, the inability to look me in the eye (or on the converse, looking me in the eye with hate, disdain or loathing). I never made any traffic stops just because of the vehicle's appearance. HOWEVER, if one follows a vehicle long enough, they WILL make a mistake, giving probable cause. Typically, drugs were discovered by the dog or as a result of the vehicle search. Drug users come in all forms. For DWIs, I would watch for failure to signal, weaving within the lane, speeding, etc. Hell, I STILL do that nowadays. Not much I can do about it except call it in.
