No shock, just awe
I couldn`t help but think of Junior Bush this morning nor could I forget the rightwing`s decade-long regurgitation of Islamophobia.Regardless of whether or not democracy blossoms in Egypt, one thing is certain....ordinary, courageous protesters took down a wretched dictator without dropping one bomb or building one naked pyramid. No black hoods.

Blah, blah, same crap blah......

I`m thinking of my own country and how the spread of fear has become more important than the spread of liberty. I`m thinking about how slavish we`ve become and how easily we`ve surrendered our rights and accepted our condition. I`m thinking how wonderfully our teeny expectations work in concert with our giant excuses and how our loss of empathy allows millions of Limbaugh fans to laugh as Rush tells America`s hungry children to go dumpster diving.

WE should be in the streets.

1. They showed us how its done, and somewhere Gandhi is cheering!
Here's another thing we can learn.... many of the tweets kept repeating that it was important to remeber those in poverty, and keep working to better their situations.

Yet, USians, including "progressives" are busy and hard at work CUTTING already inadequate aid to poor people right here.
"USians"? Must be a new democrat method to show contempt for their country, like spelling America with a "k". Anyway, the interesting news from this post is that the smelly Denver hobo now tweets from the backseat of the '86 Buick (which, by the way, is a big honkin' ole Park Avenue, not some half-assed Skylark). Yes, you can now follow bobbo the smelly Denver hobo on Twitter!

3. the political system here is broken.
the 2 party system is working against the best interests of the people.

and why? because both parties are 'owned' by the same people.

7. Truth.
And going to the polls to fix the problem isn't going to work because that's part of the broken system.
We are stuck in a horrifying loop.

Nothing to worry about. With Diebold we have the most reliable polling system in the world. Just ask TruthIsAll.

6. end of 9/11 era, beginning of the 2/11
We should have dropped laptops onto Iraq instead of bombs. The most devastating effect on the "terra terra" hysteria, is that now millions of Americans have personalized the Egyptian people. They are no longer the "other", they are us.
The worst nightmare for Cheney/Rumsfeld/Wolfowitz/Bush.

Roger the laptops. Provided they are filled with C-4 and detonators.

9. Imagine if
Egypt had "Free Speech Zones"?
They seemed to be perfectly legal here for 8 years and will be again, I'm sure.

In any event, there is no way our country would ever allow us to congregate like that, even close to that.
There would be mass arrests and dispersal of the protesters by any means especially our new crowd-control technology

but then I've heard that cerebrospinal fluid leaking from ruptured eardrums does wonders for one's coiffure so there are silver linings to dark clouds!
????Must have missed something.

Which seems to have now seeped into the country's subconsciousness as an acceptable normality. I may have only quoted that part, but I thoroughly agree with the sentiment of your whole post.

I wish I had read this in time to recommend, but here's a instead.
Well, DUmmy Turborama, your Religion of Peace cultists might find more acceptance if they would blow themselves up in private, instead of using crowded areas.

Conservativephobia is all that is allowed in regressive party.

Damn facts.

Damn rational thought.

Damn reality.

Full speed ahead on hating people that think we should live within our means, want jobs for people, and look out for our country's interests over other countries.

A coup occurred in Egypt.

Either the army cuts a deal with the Islamists or they use decidedly undemocratic methods to suppress the Islamists so Egypt can enjoy one-man-one-vote more than one-time.

Either way, what the DUmbasses daydream about has no connection to reality.

Of course the argument could be made that the Egyptians have been watching the progress in Iraq because of their new freedom (courtesy of the USA), building their country with democratic principles, they decided they want some of that, too. At least it's more plausible than "Obama made them do it".

There is an amazing amount of crap and misinformation in the MSM and of course on DU (Which actually is a stand-alone crap and misinformation generator).  Despite all the bad-mouthing of Mubarak, his government kept a lid on the radicalism, which aside from any idealistic motivations was just bad for business, since Egypt doesn't have a lot to offer except tourism and transit fees for the Canal; his government used an awful lot of what they did take in for energy and food price supports.

Corrupt?  Oh Hell yes, but by our standards everything outside of North-of-the-Rio-Grande-North-America plus most of Western Europe is just as corrupt, Egypt was not exceptional in that regard.

What got people in the streets was not mostly an undying thirst for democracy, it was the fact that despite the price supports their economy sucked so bad that they were still getting hammered between terrible employment and rising prices of basic necessities.  There isn't a ****ing thing that a 'Democratically elected free government' is likely to do for them (Before being swallowed by the MB within five years) that has any real chance of changing that for the better, and a lot of prospects to make it worse.  In happier times the Western governments might prop up a new regime with mad-money loans (Which would still go largely into corruption, third-world democratic governments are even more corrupt than third-world dictatorships), but not much of anybody is in a position to dump a few billion dollars of international loans into Egypt right now.

There is no direct connection between democracy and prosperity.  Look at China.  It was a thirst for prosperity that got most of those guys in the streets in Cairo, and the fact that Mubarak was failing to provide it.  I don't see any underlying factors that are going to turn the economy of Egypt around just because they go to an improved electoral government, even assuming it survives long enough to be taken seriously.

I got a kick outa the MSM Obummer supporters tryin' to get rank and file Egyptians to say Obumbler gave them support, only to have them tell him Zero needs to stay the hell out of it! The guy from Google that was arrested and appears to be a leader of the protests told him to mind his own business after saying the message has been mixed from Obama from the outset! Basically every single person this guy talked to, told Obama to pound sand!

Anyone who doesn't think the MSM is in the back pocket of the left only need hear how the reporter from CNN summed up his lack of finding a protester to praise Obumbler by saying, "The feeling here is jubilant that Obama got behind the uprising". Nothing could be further from the truth! How that idiot could say that with a straight face is beyond comprehension!

I can't wait to see how the DUmmies react when the Mooselim Brotherhood take over. That should be interesting.

They will be pleased, especially if there is a threat to immediately attack Israel. Remember, the DUmmies voted for a muslim for U.S. President, and strongly support I'm A Dinner Jacket and every other crazy muzzie today. Democrats embrace anything that is damaging to American interests.

Great points. Very true. Anything that goes against Israel and against America's best interest, the primitives rejoice.
I like the "I'm In A Dinner Jacket". :lmao: :lmao:
