Red-Baiting and Racism: Socialism as the New Black Bogeyman
by Tim Wise

Throughout the first six months of his administration, President Obama--perhaps one of the most politically cautious leaders in contemporary history--has been routinely portrayed as a radical by his opponents on the far-right. In particular, persons who have apparently never actually studied Marxism (or if they did, managed to somehow find therein support for such things as bailing out banks and elite corporations) contend that Obama is indeed a socialist. Reducing all government action other than warmaking to part of a larger socialist conspiracy, the right contends that health care reform is socialist, capping greenhouse gas emissions is socialist, even providing incentives for driving fuel efficient cars is socialist. That the right insists upon Obama's radical-left credentials, even as they push an Obama=Hitler meme (something they apparently think is fair, since, after all the Nazis were National Socialists, albeit the kind who routinely murdered the genuine article) only speaks to the special brand of crazy currently in vogue among the nation's reactionary forces.

Got it? Calling Obama a socialist is racist.
Learn it.
Accept it.
Embrace it.
...
Or you're a racist.
So then 'splain this one to me:

Why not Socialism?
Right now the income disparity between the rich and poor is greater than it ever has been. Egypt, with all of its corruption, has less of a disparity than the US.
So if anything, now is the time for a new Socialist Party - one that takes the lead from Eugene Debs.
The American Socialist parties were and are not Marxist - they opposed the USSR and Stalin just as much as they opposed corporations.
Smarty-pants GOPunks like to claim that Socialism failed. It did? When and where exactly? If you point to Europe, not only did Socialist Policy not fail, it helped the recession/depression end in the EU, where their economy is farther on track than we are.
I am not saying vote Socialist in 2012 - but I do think those of us who know in our hearts that we are Socialists should support a Socialist party.

leftteat et al race in for the obligatory primate paddling.
But what I want to know is:
If calls of socialism are fodder for racist attacks against American's first marginally non-cracker president, why are the DUmbasses inciting racist behavior?
What other reasonable conclusion could possibly be drawn based on DU's own musings?

See, there's your problem, bunneh. Trying to apply reason and logic where clearly, none exists. :cheers1:

BooBoo gives DU its best reason to reject socialism:

6. I'll wait until socialists are willing to stop with the "working poor" stuff and include ALL of us.
Now that I think about it: if we conservatives conceded to socialism on the condition all persons must work the DUmbasses would burn the Little Red Books so fast the resulting cloud would blot out the sun.

I am 110% behind the idea of having an openly socialist party. PLEASE, please let the democrat party split in two.

8. I want a party that is more focused on giving one to another.
Their overall focus should be to see that nobody is without need.
Bad grammar or Freudian slip?

Freudian slip is my guess, since the DUmmies want everyone equally miserable and poor.

Well not exactly. In the case of GM they gave it to the unions because they owed them for Obiewan! In the case of the banks, when you load your cabinet up with former bank thieves, ya's get what ya pay for!
