Alert: If you bake with pumpkin regularly, better stock up

Canned pumpkin disappeared from the shelves of my local markets this week. Apparently the suits in corporate offices marketing have decided that pumpkin is strictly a "seasonal" item.

The grocery managers told me that the manufacturer doesn't sell it this time of year. So I called the manufacturer customer service of both Libby and Santiam and was told hell no -- they have millions of cans in stock yet this year.

So I found one store that still has a few cans and will go get some tomorrow. My kitty needs pumpkin!

Pfffft. Suits.

Why would one feed pumpkin to a cat?

I don't imagine it hurts, but I can't see what it helps either.

1. Pumpkin IS seasonal for us.

We only bake with it when we can get a whole real pumpkin. But your kitty needs it for digestive reasons, doesn't she, IIRC?

If I were a grocery manager, I wouldn't waste my time trying to explain to a DUmmie why I didn't carry egg nog in July.

I'm mystified as to how many cans of pumpkin one needs to feed a cat for a year.

I mean, I'm sure the farmerette primitive gives it to the cat appropriately, maybe a teaspoon a day.

It seems to me that just by purchasing six or eight cans every November, the cat's set for the year.

Not only that, but it's always on sale during the Holidays, so it would be cheaper to stock up then.

DUmmies seem only to be concerned about such things when they need them, right then and there.  Run out of toilet paper?  Worry about that after you've already done the deed.  Get sick, and need a doctor?  According to DUmp logic, that is the time to start fishing around for an insurance policy.

On top of that, I seem to remember reading that one of the brands that she mentioned is actually squash, and not pumpkin.  Libby's, I believe.  Seems to me the easy thing to do would be to grow some squash, and grind them up as you need them.

She could try here...... (http://www.bizrate.com/canned-food/buy-canned-pumpkin-online/)...and have it delivered straight to her house.

Then again that took me thirty seconds on google.  That's a lot of work for an average DUmmie.

For crying out loud!   I swear I hear this hue and cry about a pumpkin shortage every single year.  It's usually around Christmas and Thanksgiving, though.

She could do as suggested at the above pot or actually check into other means of assisting with her cats digestive troubles.  But nooooo...DUmmies must run to DUmmyland to post about all their woes before doing anything about them (if they are lies, that is).

Her what needs what?

So, instead of investing the 30 seconds of googling, like Vagabond did, she attempted to scale the mountains of protective layers that is corporate America, to find someone at the great Libby's conglomerate to spill her woes on.  Libby's doesn't make the call here, the supermarket purchasing manager does.  God, she's dumb.

Exactly, that would eat up precious time to post at the DUmp.

I sure am glad y'all cleared that up. I never heard of givin' cats pumpkin so I was thinkin' she was talkin about a "different" kind of kitty!

After some of the bizarre sexual escapades that originate from the DUmp, can ya blame me?

Libby's is owned by the vast and powerful Nestle Corporation.  I'm not sure what number she found, but it was probably people dealing with wholesale and distribution accounts.  I'm trying to picture them dealing with this loon on the phone, pathetically and desperately seeking a single can of precious pumpkin.
