Unemployment will drop only when . . . . . .
. . . . new jobs and new industries are created.
Our manufacturing base is outsourced. Much of our service economy jobs are also outsourced. With very few exceptions, none of those jobs are *ever* coming back. Wishing won't change that.
There is no indication that new industries are cropping up. The Germans and the Chinese are kicking our asses for green high technology. Maybe we'll make some triple pane windows are mix some chemicals into foam and bottle it, but the green jobs are elsewhere. Same for high speed rail - that train has left the station (pun intended).
So how is unemployment going to drop?
The only things that's going to drop is our standard of living.
You know, franksolich has a bone to pick with the sparkling husband primitive, who commented negatively about franksolich at one of those endless Nadine campfires last week.
This was right after franksolich had commented nicely about the sparkling husband primitive on P-J Comix's DUmmie FUnnies earlier in the same day.
It just really pisses me off; not only has franksolich always dedicated every "Mrs. Alfred Packer does Christmas" story, an annual tradition here in the DUmpster, to the sparkling husband primitive, but also franksolich's announcement six weeks ago of the sparkling husband primitive winning the second spot in the Top Primitives of 2010 was probably one of the best pieces of writing franksolich ever did; it surely was better than all the other announcements.
Ungrateful cur, the sparkling husband primitive.

When Boomers have died off unfortunately, by then MOST good jobs will also go byebye, since decades of service-economy jobs will have been the norm, and children-of-boomers will have had that kind of job all their lives. The grandchildren of boomers will have a lower standard of living, but their lowered numbers may work for them, and make their labor more in-demand.
Not everything can be outsourced.
We cannot know now, what the energy issues of tomorrow will really be.. Who knows? at some point maybe there will not be huge ships crossing the oceans 24-7 to deliver cheap foreign goods.. Most of us will not be around to see what happens, but as Boomers move from most-favored consumer status, to most-costly to keep alive..,.and then into oblivion, there will be a sea-change..count on it.

Sounds to me like Stinky may have realized the economy is repairing itself, without additional government interference, just in time for the TEA Party to take credit for it.
And they should...
Ever since the day they were elected, primitives have been chanting 'Where are the jobs ?' as directed by their fallen hero Kweef - now that the market is rising, and there is some indication of changing employment numbers, the primitives want to run from the fire they ignited. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

The DUmmie just had a :thatsright: moment. It's been 2 years and they are just now beginning to get it that a lower standard of living for all is exactly what Obama was promising....NO ponies.

The answer to our economic woes, of course, is to raise taxes, have more regulations, and more unionization of business.
Maybe a law to make it impossible to fire an employee. That ought to get business owners hiring again.
