So, Mitch McConnell and friends are assuring the American people that "Oh, yes, there WILL
be a Senate vote" on repealing the Healthcare Act. This despite the inconvenient fact that Harry Reid and the Democrats are still in control of the US Senate and Reid has said he will NOT call the matter up for a vote.
There is talk that the Republicans are planning to simply refuse to participate in any governance unless and until they get their way and the Senate votes on their prized repeal bill. It is sort of the equivalent of a petulant child threatenuing to hold their breath until they get what they want.
As disgusting as this approach would be, I fervently hope the GOP will try it. It will not tell me anything I don't already know about the Republicans, but it would likely tell me something very important about the Democrats: is there still a backbone in there somewhere?
If the Democrats allow themselves to be bluffed out of their shorts by this weasely puppet-mouthed twit---if they don't stand their ground, let the GOP bring government to a standstill and then HANG THEM WITH IT!---I will agree with those who say that the Democratic Party is dead.
If we blink in response to this bullshit stunt, we will truly not deserve the support of the American people.

Actually he is trying to cut down the deficit. Killing HCR will do just that.
The dems are lying their asses off about repeal adding to the deficit.
They gave the CBO fixed numbers.

Me thinks that the debt ceiling will be the lever that pushes the vote in the senate. Obama will be pushing it in the end and claiming the republicans are forcing him to do it......hostage takers....have to do it to save the econom...his presidency...

I still don't see a need for a debt limit increase. The federal government could cut back in unnecessary and unconstitutional areas, just like a business to get back to a balanced budget. In fact it absolutely has to at some point, or it is literally going to devour us all.

It's hard to say, they may be so close to the edge by the time they actually get around to doing the vote that there won't be any real alternative to an extension or a shut-down, in fact that is probably the Democrat strategy on it.

It would be the height of foolishness to delay the debt limit increase and force a shutdown. It would cancel out the political advantage the jug-eared Kenyan has given Republicans on a silver platter, reverse the electoral tide in congress, and probably assure a second term for the muslim. It would be a repeat of the one fatally stupid move Newt made, which turned out to be an enormous favor to Bill Clinton.
It's a big price to pay to briefly feel the satisfaction of ideological purity.

Problem is close to 30% in this country are the addicts we need to shut off, and there's another 20 or so % that want to feel good by spendin' other peoples money to keep them addicted!
