Repeated Branding of 78-Year-Old Professor Frances Fox Piven as “Enemy of the Constitution†Incites Death Threats
CONTACT: press@ccrjustice.org
January 20, 2011, New York – Today, the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) issued a written appeal to Fox News president Roger Ailes to help put a stop to the increasing threats against progressive Professor Frances Fox Piven, largely incited by Fox News host Glenn Beck. In the letter, co-written by Legal Director Bill Quigley and Executive Director Vince Warren the CCR asks that Ailes distinguish between First Amendment rights, of which they are “vigorous defenders†and an “intentional repetition of provocative, incendiary, emotional misinformation and falsehoods in actual physical danger of a violent response.â€

Yep they actually admit the goal is to silence the right.
If she really got death threats it wasn't Beck telling people to threaten her. He has mentioned her multiple times and not once has called for any kind of violence against her or anyone. I love it how people who don't even listen to a word Beck says and have never read a single word he wrote tells me that he incites violence.
the only violence that Beck incites is within the DUmmies who want to punch him in the face or do worse for the crime of exposing the left for what it is.

What, no on-line petition to sign?
I'm sure Harry S. Houle would be in support of such a petition. :rotf:

Probably bitching and complaining along with the DUmmies.
Fogerty is a big time lib.

I was wondering WTF it mattered Credence had to say about anything. :-)

I see it "lookin' out my back door".

They prove he is right, they want to silence opposing views because they know their own views won't win. They are getting rather hysterical about it, seems to me they know they are losing.

4. LOL. Yup. Even at 78, Piven is no shrinking violet.

The demonizing, by the way, is utterly predictable.
Look at what they did to ACORN. It's clear that any person or organization who helps poor people is an enemy of Fox News.
Sure. I am too, if they do it all illegally. Are you telling me ACORN is a "clean" organization? :stoner:

So what you're saying is only rich people watch FOX.
And FOX pounds its competition with ratings higher than the combined totals of the other networks.
So that means there is a lot of rich people.
Hooray for social justice!

After a few minutes of research on Francis Fox Piven...someone I've never heard of before...it would seem she's been advocating revolution of one kind or another for decades. One of her earliest books was "The New Class War: Reagan's Attack on the Welfare State and Its Consequences," and a more recent was "The War at Home: The Domestic Costs of Bush's Militarism." Perhaps all Beck had to do was call attention to this person...her books and YouTube videos did the rest...with her own words.
Given that fact, though, it's obviously both wrong and stupid to threaten someone like this...just as it's wrong to try to silence Beck. Our best option is to encourage them both to talk freely...because Beck makes perfect sense most of the time, while Piven won't make sense to anyone over the mental age of 16 or so.

Highlighted for the lurking DUmmies. :-)
