Pedestrian deaths increased sharply during the first half of 2010, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA). The reason may be First Lady Michelle Obama and her “Let’s Move” campaign.

In an interview with the Washington Examiner, GHSA Executive Director Barbara Harsha said that while there are not yet definitive answers as to why there were more pedestrian deaths in 2010 than 2009, Obama’s “get moving” movement could be at least partially to blame.

“There’s an emphasis these days to getting fit, and I think people doing that are more exposed to risk [of getting hit by a vehicle],” Harsha told the Examiner. “Obviously, further study is needed.” ...

No, it's not at fault.  I'm sorry.

There are just too many dumb pedestrians that think playing Frogger in real life is safe.  People dart out in front of me in Las Vegas all the time, when the cross walk is just 15 feet away.  It's just pure laziness causing all of the deaths.

Admit it: knowing as we do, the typical leftist's penchant for blithely ignoring potential unintended consequences, it did make you stop and think for a minute or two, didn't it? :cheers1:

No.  lol

I'm just glad I won't be at fault when I hit one of these morons.  In Las Vegas, if you don't cross at a crosswalk, you (the pedestrian) are at fault.. not the driver.  Gotta love it.  And I only know this because there are so many pedestrians ran over in Las Vegas because they refuse to take a few extra steps to the crosswalk.  Ridiculous.

If you want to exercise, go to the park and walk around there.  Or, be a mall walker.  It's fairly safe.
