The DUmmies have a ball dreaming up all the stuff we owe them for simply existing:

What is the minimum standard of living a society should accept for its poorest?
Simple question, very complex answers. Thought this is a very basic discussion that one should spend some time thinking about every so often.

Not excessive at all. You may recall that the Las Vegas Lardass, a career freeloader, maintains a "premium" membership to some DUmbass computer game that he plays for endless hours every day, instead of looking for work. So DUmmy ZombieHorde's dream has already been realized.

19. + water, heat (or air conditioning in extreme climates) Some other energy provisions
such as simply having electric lights a refrigerator and a way to cook food, proper sanitation, proper clothing, some minimal creature comforts such as basic furniture
Security should go without saying, police and fire protection as well as EMS services if needed and national defense.

5. Article 1, Section 25, Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Article 25.
(1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.
All bums are bums due to circumstances beyond their control.

13. Theres always enough wealth, no matter the country
Take a country like Mexico for an example, it has an abundance of wealth derived from its rich mineral deposits, but the wealthy have never developed a sense of sharing, so theres a huge disparity between the well off and extreme poverty.
Its getting the obscenely wealthy to share thats the problem in most every country.
By the way, if you're reading this, you are obscenely wealthy.

14. Guaranteed income for all adults.
I'm thinking $24,000 a year indexed to real cost of living increases. For every dollar you earn, a dollar is taken away.
DUmmy catnhatnh gets the spirit. If Luminous Animal and his squeeze get $4K/mo. tax free, why not take it a step further? He'll let us off the hook if we guarantee him and his shackup $12K/month total, tax free and with COLA:

33. Just slightly off...
For there to be an incentive to work (which benefits the society) something more like a 50 cent reduction would work better...when I make 72K or more in income I'm on my own...
Surely the DUmmies won't be satisfied if a shacked up couple is only guaranteed $144K per year. The price of weed would probably go up by more than the Consumer Price Index. So at the very least, COLA needs to be indexed to the price of an ounce of Maui Wowie, and we need that spelled out in legislation.

All that shit would still be in the f'n ground if it weren't for some entrepreneur busting his ass and blowing his own money on an investment that could have easily bankrupted him. The government isn't going to do it, unless it means giving them more power, in ANY economic model.
What does society owe you leeches? Not a ****ING thing. I'm being dead serious here, if you idiots don't like how you're treated in THIS country, you can all f'n die horrible deaths as far as I'm concerned. People need free places to use restrooms! I personally, one year while riding a bus in Portland, saw a fella taking a pooop right in the middle of the grass or whatever it was surrounding highways going by him and above him, and I realized people are not necessarily allowed to walk in to any restroom anywhere just to use the toilet, think about that, one of life's basic needs, the need to relieve yourself.

53. Sufficient, decent and ordinary. But there's a better question.
If we're doing it right, we don't have any "poor." People should have a right to a decent life and to be ordinary. Horatio Alger is a myth.
The more telling question is What's the maximum standard of living that a society should tolerate for its richest?
:bird: Commie.

How about we educate you for free (which this country already does.) After that, we don't owe you jack shit, you lazy ass mother****er. You want a house? Go earn some money to pay rent. You want food? Go earn some money to get groceries. You want a phone? Earn money to pay the bill.
-
Now, let us consider for a moment what our society provides for the poor.
Food: Food stamps are available to those below a certain income, and there are numerous food pantries that help out as well. Schools provide free and reduced cost breakfast and lunches for children who need them. And honestly, have you looked at the price of Oatmeal, or dried beans lately? We have incredibly cheap food here. I could buy enough Oatmeal to eat for breakfast everyday for a month for less than $4.
Housing: Section 8 housing. The government usually pays over 70% of the rental costs of an place. Yes, this requires some income, but it significantly reduces the required income to own a honestly. Also, there are transitional homeless shelters, though they are often private organizations, many of which are Christian, which give families a safe place to stay temporarily while getting back on their feet.
Education: Every child gets a free education through high school, which is a lot more than many other countries offer.
Health Care: Many urban areas have free clinics, and emergency rooms cannot turn people away, which has contributed to the cost of health care in this nation because we end up paying for all the deadbeats. We are one of the most generous nations, and we have people giving money to help those who cannot afford treatment on a regular basis. Many hospitals have a fund that has been created by the generosity of others to help pay.
Quite simply, compared to historical standards, life is incredibly easy to all Americans. Even the wealthy a hundred years ago wouldn't have dreamed of trying to heat and light an entire house. The entire family would socialize in one area, which would be the only part heated or lit. They would use a bed warmer to warm their beds right before getting in, and use a candle to get their. Indoor bathrooms would have been an inconceivable luxury. Food was very simply for most of history, with meat only being available to the very wealthy, and in Christian Countries, many of them would have avoided meat for much of year based on fasting rules.
We have cheap electricity, cheap food, plenty of very cheap clean water (a huge luxury in most of the world), and yet, all they can think of what else they "need".
-

Go to any shithole that is not the US, and plenty of places in the US for that matter. Take a trip through Detroit, ****stick. I'd go armed, but it's up to you.

Why can we make use of the closed military bases and house the poor there. Let them live in barracks style housing. It's good enough for the military, it should be good enough for them. Besides, they already have the fences surrounding them. :whistling:

Hey! I played D&D, and it was the stoners who tended to die at early levels. I never ran an MU who didn't make it to at least 9th level, and I had 3 (all my characters were MUs) who made it past 20th level. Heh, those were fun times. I always ended up Chaotic Evil, too, even if sometimes I'd start Chaotic Neutral. It's just more fun to be evil.

I think that reopening some of the old 18th and 19th century insane asylums/prisons that are currently dotting the landscape would be a good place to house these rejects.

As long as we're dreaming, why not use DUmmies to test mine fields? They'd be doing something useful for the first time in their parasitic lives.
What THEY'RE owed? THEY owe US--and everyone else who pays the taxes that so many of them don't. And what they owe the United States for all the damage they've done to it surpasses the current national debt.
So I'm thinking that mine field testing might be a down payment on the debt they owe us, and the United States. If 100 useless DUmmies were sacrificed to save the life of one honorable soldier, it'd at least be a start. Hell, our military robots are worth much more than the DUmmies.
-
So if we provide these things what do the recipients provide as compensation?
Will the state be allowed to enforce compulsory labor?
-
For years we've been using crash test DUmmies.

The foundational principle of our country is that the Government doesn't owe anyone shit except beating the snot out of anyone from outside who tries to horn in on us by land or sea, keeping the States from doing anything too stupid or with too many unintended consequences to each other, and running a system of courts to handle disputes on Federal or interstate legal issues...the rest of it is mostly about what Government is supposed to NOT do.
