Title: House Republicans Overturn 'ObamaCare' in Symbolic Move
Post by: CactusCarlos on January 19, 2011, 06:38:36 PM
In a 245-189 vote — which included three Dem defectors — House Republicans pass bill to repeal the president's health care law in a symbolic gesture that will most likely go no further than the Senate.

Symbolic move. Not good wording for me.

It is symbolic but it is good in the sense that the GOP has lived up to their promise so far.

symbolic yes, but the count is up to 26 states that are challenging the Feds over obamacare source (http://www.bizjournals.com/tampabay/news/2011/01/19/six-states-join-health-care-reform.html).  That's a simple majority for those of you in Rio Linda (unless you believe there are 57 states in the USA).

I'm thinking it has scared the crap out of the left.  The three rats that jumped ship on this was just the cherry on top.

Hi,

I am not thrilled with the word symbolic, that creates the illusion that they voted on it as a mere procedural move and nothing else.  If the libs think it was procedural, then they should have a similar vote in the senate but they will not, Reid knows better.

The most recent Rasmussen poll shows that 55% of America still want the bill repealed.  The signifigance of the vote is showing the libs are still governing against the will of the majority of America.   The reason the republicans would want to have the vote in the senate is to make it easier to vote out a bunch of senators in 2012 and make it harder for BO to get elected.

To me what is really important is who steps up for the republicans in 2012; cannot be names from any of the old guard.  Unfortunately Palin has been destroyed by the media.  You saw the lib member of the house yesterday referring to Nazis, saying that if you repeat something over and over eventually the public begins to believe it.......well that is what they damn sure did to Palin.

Right now my list includes more candidates I don't want than anything.

Symbolic my ass, if the republicans are smart they will not let go until the damn bill is totally repealed.

regards,

I know nothing can be done now but hopefully when we get our Republican president in in 2012, things will really change for the good.

The way I see it, the Republicans (the non-RINOs) have showed, so far at least, that they will not go against the will of the people. If they keep it up, and the left keeps trying to decide what is best for us, that helps greatly in paving the way for a republican president and hopefully a republican senate majority in 2012, and the repeal that will come with it.

That could very well not happen and most of thew new house could simply act like stereotypical politicians who don't care, I agree, but one can watch and hope.

As for the Nazi card, well every conservative who runs is going to be called that. The socialists (I hate to call them anything but what they are) are desperate and they have the arizona shooting to pin on a candidate.

Me too. I don't want this bill changed/altered at all. I will it dead. If all it does is change, we're still screwed. The regulations in it, the taxes for medical research and development.
