Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will be moved to a hospital in Houston on Friday, another milestone in her recovery after a gunman fired a bullet through her brain in an attack in Tucson just 11 days ago.
Giffords will be transported to The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research at Houston's Memorial Hermann hospital, a facility that specializes in brain injuries, ABC affiliate KTRK-TV confirmed on Wednesday.
The congresswoman is currently the last shooting victim remaining in Tucson's University Medical Center. All the other patients have been discharged, the hospital said today.

Great news!!!! :yahoo:

But that's a conservative state!!!

Well, Shelia Jackson Lee is in Houston. ::)
All kidding aside, that is the most awesome news. I am pulling for her.
-
Her progress has been nothing short of miraculous.
-
Hoping she has a speedy and full recovery.

You're a conservative so obviously you mean you're pulling the plug for her.

Not really, I am not so much of a rule follower.

Great to hear. I hope her rehab stay is short. Perhaps she may need little rehab from this massacre. I wonder if she will testify in Jared Loughner's trial whenever that is.

The toughest part of her recovery may be in front of her. We don't know her cognitive ability, her physical abilities, speech, etc. While her recovery so far has indeed been miraculous, it isn't over by any means.
I hate to suggest this, but she may never be 100%.
Let's keep pulling for her.

I'm guessing Houston was selected because it home to the NASA Johnson Space Flight Center. Her husband is on tap to be the commander of the last Shuttle mission and will allow him to continue to train while still being by her side.

Not only is it possible that the above is going to be very difficult...
Once she understands what really happened that day, she is going to have some serious emotional issues. I saw a clip of her husband's interview with Diane Sawyer last night, and he was saying that he not only does not know when he will be able to tell her what happened(due to her injuries and cognizant awareness), but that he doesn't know HOW he is going to tell her, that 6 people including a child, are dead because they came out to see her. I can't imagine.... :(
I sincerely hope she will be able to overcome any guilt/responsiblity she will naturally feel, and that whoever will be treating her mental health, will succeed and "Gabby" will come to understand she is not to blame for any of this madman's actions. Though there may have been many who could have done something about this guy, based on all the information that's coming out...Gabby Giffords was not one of them.

I met a kid once who had tried to kill himself. He had shot himself in the head. He had problems with vision depth. He would run into the walls and such.

Good news! And yes, the hard part is just starting. She needs our prayers now more than ever.

She's by no means kout of the woods yet, but there is some light shining through the canopy.
Get well soon, Gabby!!

Giffords stands on her own feet today
http://www.kvoa.com/news/giffords-stands-on-her-own-feet-today/?hpt=T2
TUCSON - Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was able to stand on her own two feet today, with assistance, and UMC Dr. Peter Rhee confirms that "aggressive rehab" has already begun for the congresswoman recovering from a traumatic brain injury.
Earlier today, Giffords also sat in a chair and looked out at the Catalina Mountains from her hospital room, Dr. Rhee says.
Dr. Rhee would not confirm that Giffords will leave for TIRR Memorial Hermann Rehabilitation Hospital in Houston on Friday, but he says the transition from UMC to the next hospital will be seamless.
More good news!

Not like the DUmmies would see it as the miracle that she is
