Remember when a symbol representing the name of Jesus Christ had to be covered so that Comrade Obama could speak at Catholic Georgetown? Something similar happened yesterday during the MLK festivities. Via Free North Carolina:
The annual MLK observance at the state house in Columbia SC had an interesting twist this year. The event is held on the north side steps of the statehouse. Prominent at that location is a large bronze statue of George Washington. This year, the NAACP constructed a "box" to conceal the Father of His Country from view so that participants would not be offended by his presence.
It would be nice to think that MLK Day is all about striving toward a colorblind society. In reality, it is political correctness day, which means it represents the opposite. If the dream were about people being judged by the content of their character, would they blot out the one person in our national history whose character was beyond reproach?
The real dream appears to be to tear down America, and replace it with a race-based society in which the "victims" always get to be on top, regardless of merit, based on the color of their skin. Progress has been made. Is anyone clueless enough to think Barack Obama would be in office if both his parents had been white?

Wow. Not only is that offensive, it's weak and cowardly.
Congratulations, NAACP.
-
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, next year they can have it on the south side where the Confederate flag flies.

Here's an article from an online South Carolina paper, the comments are great:

Wow...they took on the Confederate flag. How brave. How courageous. Now maybe they can turn their attention to teen pregnancy, drug addiction, black on black crime, and academic failure. Assembling once or twice a year to sing "We shall overcome" and assign blame to society will never advance the black community but assimilating into mainstream society will. Take notes from the Pan-Asian immigrants to the US over the last 50 years. You don’t see Asian Americans content to accept crumbs from the Limousine Liberals. They are too busy opening businesses and getting degrees.

For some reason I doubt that this will get much MSM coverage.

I did a google search and nothing came up from a mainstream source on the 1st page at all.

Copied from the article at.......

Claudette Lee, 56, rode to the rally on one of two buses from Detroit, organized by Michigan talk show host Mildred Gaddis. This was Lee’s second year coming to the rally. Those who came with her chanted, “The D is in the house.†Lee said she hopes to build support for the rally in her home state to remove the flag here.
“We doubled it,†Lee said of the number of buses traveling from the Motor City this year over last. “Hopefully, next year we’ll have more.â€
....like Detroit is such a fine example.

WTF?

Who cares if Blacks are offended by George Washington? Whites founded America, so naturally there will be statues of White people around as a result of that.
Anyone who doesn't like that, White or Black or otherwise, can **** off and go somewhere else. History can't be changed because someone is offended by it.
Of course, that doesn't stop cultural Marxists and race-hustlers like the NAACP from trying to either rewrite or ignore it, all because it doesn't suit them. But, it's Right-wingers who are the threat to America, not the people who attack, belittle, or downplay America's founding fathers and institutions ::)

That nailed it pretty well. Asian-American culture chose the path of action and bootstraps, African-American culture chose the path of dependency and victimhood.

The only good thing is that people aren't afraid to call them out on it now whereas when political correctness was at it's height people were too afraid to be called racist to say anything. There's big money involved in keeping blacks down and the Jackson's and the Sharpton's of this world know this, so it's going to be up to blacks themselves to say enough. As mentioned in the comments section, Asian's have done very well for themselves and you see the same thing happening in the Hispanic community where they own their own businesses and take pride in their homes, how long the black community will settle for 3rd class status is going to be up to them.
-
That is disgusting.
So,.....what are they insinuating by doing that? That they aren't Americans? :mental: Kind of reminds when the communist community organizer spoke at a school and had the crucifix covered up. :argh:

How can George Washington be offensive? Most people with the last name Washington are Black. As an Asian, we don't lockstep to limousine leftists. By the way, liberal is such a misnomer for them, why I call them leftists not liberal. Liberal means someone who wants change and the left want to maintain the status quo.

If Washington offends you, feel free to leave. Maybe you'd prefer such upstanding people like Mugabe or Idi Amin.
-
Of course the NAACP would find Washington offensive. He was a free-thinking individual. Don't want to encourage that amongst the black population, cause should they ever catch wind that the organization that "represents" them no longer holds their best interest in mind, they may stop paying dues and abandon them to the wastebasket of history where they belong.
-
Dammit to hell in a handbasket. :censored:
PC will kill us all.

Amen to that! Don't forget Mengistu Haile Mariam. He killed WAY MORE people than Idi Amin and Robert Mugabe COMBINED. He caused the famine in Ethiopia in the mid 1980s.
-
Sad and pathetic, even seeing an icon like that hidden is disturbing.
-
It's quite sad when a group of people are freed from the bondage of chains and slip into the bondage of ignorance.
-
well our current half black president offends me. How about we put a box around him next time he makes a public appearance so as not to offend us whiteys?

FIFY.

This was very upsetting, and goes to show the true intentions of the now naacp. and yet we still here them calling tea partiers racists, in retrospect, lets say its independents day, and we decided to have a celebration by the martin luther king jr. memorial in washington d.c. and decided to cover the statue, not becuase we are "racist" but because we are only trying to celebrate indepenedence day, i gurantee you we would be given the short end of the stick, and called everything from racist, to biggot, to infidel, etc. ! This is an outrage!
