Fourteen days into the New Year: 507 executed, among those 3 mayors and 22 minors.
In the first 14 days of 2011, every 40 minutes a person has been killed in the country in incidents related to organized crime, marking the beginning of the most violent year in the current administration.
Acapulco suffered the most violent deaths in a single day on January 8, when it reported 25 people executed by organized crime, 14 of them beheaded. The handwritten notes warned that the men's brutal fate - the coroner said they were still alive when their heads were severed - would be shared by any who "attempt to enter the territory."
"Organized crime has not been weakened. On the contrary, it is active, operative, strong, and fighting tooth and nail for their territory, " said Toledo.

Yet Calderon insists he's winning. And it's safe for tourism. Come on down!

IT's a real shame. I can remember taking many surf trips down into mexico because of the great and uncrowded beaches and laid back lifestyle, but there is no ****ing way I will make another trip south of the border again.

Yeah,....I'd say it's safe. ::)

How sad. :(
Calderon is too busy whining about Arizona's immigration law, he doesn't want to take care of his own country. At least that's how I see it.

What's even worse is, the democraps all stand and applaud him when he spoke to the Congress. What.A.Joke.

I'd never go to Mexico for a trip, I went to cuba once though.

We were going to go to mexico at the end of the month for my cousins 50th birthday. We decided not to go because of the violence but his whole family is still going, including his brother and sister, their families and my aunt. I hope they make it back safe and sound. My other cousin (his sister) call me a wimp for not going. :p

Stand tall. I have been invited to Mexico many times in the last year. I declined. Hell, I LIVE in Mexico. Why would I want to pay good money to go there?
eta: And, yes, the people give me crap about it too.

My sister, who lives in Phoenix, has vacationed in Mexico for the past 8 or 9 years of the 10 years that she's been in Arizona.
Not any more.

It was great, wasn't it? Maybe when Calderone gets kicked to the curb, things will settle down. Then again, these 'new' narcos are deranged.

Living in Phoenix, why would you even want to go to Mexico?
My husband & I were residents of Phoenix from 2005-2008. Some parts of town felt like we were already in Mexico.

You'd have to ask my sister, but I'd say because it was cheap. I think she said it was some sort of tent/camping thing, maybe cottages - I dunno. Anyway, it was inexpensive to vacation there.

I would say you are pretty darn smart for not going......I would have suggested somewhere else myself....just sayin..

How true that is. It's also sad that we have a DHS, (or do we), that won't even protect the borders in the U.S.

I have only been to Cozemel, Mexico one time but when I went (14 yr old fat girl with buck teeth, red hair, coke bottle glasses), I was hit on like I was some Playboy model. Guess they wanted to marry me for my citizenship :shucks:

That's crazy. 507 dead in 14 days?!

Yes. That and the free health care.
