Radio & TV Talk Royal Marshall, Neal Boortz’s engineer, has passed

Damn. Only 43 years old...........

Raymond Royal Marshall, sidekick and engineer for syndicated talk show host Neal Boortz, has died.

Pete Spriggs, program director for AM750 and now 95.5 FM News/Talk WSB, said he collapsed at his Atlanta home and was pronounced dead at Grady Hospital at about 1 a.m. early Saturday morning.

Assistant Program Director Condace Pressley said it was too soon to pinpoint cause of death. He was 43.

“He was a good man,” she said. “I can’t believe he’s gone.”

Marshall has worked with Boortz for 17 years, according to the WSB Radio biography for Marshall.

Small bonfire now but, just wait until the hate brigade shows up.

I didn't know he was that young. Rest in peace, Mr. Marshall.

Didn't he have his own local talk show in Atlanta, too? I thought I heard Boortz mention that once.

He did.  I remember he mentioned that his timeslot had been pushed back because WSB ran Michael Savage after Boortz's show a while back.

I usually listen to "ReBortz" on WSB in the wee hours of the morning while I'm working.  It's always been "Royal and Belinda"  as Neal's companions and cohorts.  He had a very good speaking voice, very strong opinions, and no qualms whatsoever saying them.

RIP, Mr. Marshall.  You will be missed.

Wow! Royal had gone to some stand up comedy school back a few years ago and did one of his acts on the Boortz show and was flat out hilarious.

Rest in peace Royal.

Edited to add link to the Boortz website. It is true.

Edited to add his signature translation piece of "Boo got shot".

4. I feel sorry for his family and friends,

but any man that chose to work with Boortz, a man who has spent his career as a professional liar and hate merchant, is not a "good" man in my opinion. Trading one's soul for a few dollars is hardly worthy of praise.

This is sad news. Neal's show won't be the same without him and you can bet they will miss him terribly. RIP Royal

I didn't know this!  Oh this is terrible, so young.  I listen to the show every afternoon.  RIP, sir.

Over at the DUmp, one person is trying to keep the dancing down to a dull roar, as she apparently worked with Royal a bit.  43?  Damn.

"Royal was an icon at WSB," said WSB Program Director Pete Spriggs.  "I can't believe, frankly, that this is reality.  He was a very, very, good man who was very passionate and committed to his wife and daughters, as well as his church and the community.  You'll never hear a sharper wit than Royal's.  The WSB family is devastated."

Damn, just damn! ****in' DUmmies have no soul!

I posted a message on Neals site this weekend. Today he said all the tweets and online messages were going to be printed and bound for Royals family to read someday.
