Title: "Do it for Paul"--Wellstone Memorial, Part II
Post by: Godot showed up on January 13, 2011, 08:27:45 AM
That was my first thought when I watched some of Obama's speech last night, and that disgusting, unseemly, "memorial." I knew before watching that it was going to turn into the Wellstone Memorial, Part II, and it absolutely did. Obama made no effort to get the cheering crowd under control. Toward the end I was watching with genuine nausea, and I'm not kidding. I really felt a wave of nausea watching this terrible spectacle. No matter his words, Obama and that raucous, obviously partisan university crowd made this memorial service about him. It was revolting.

Plus 90% of his speech was incomprehensible word salad: "the past", the "present", "the future", "the past" (again), "oive up to this", "live up to that," "be the people we should be" (or words to that effect), yadda yadda yadda and blah blah blah. Except for his early, clear statement that no one but Loughner caused what happened, all in all what I saw was a revolting display of self-aggrandizement and a crass political pep-rally perversion of what should have been a solemn occasion. It was disgusting.

I watched about 10 seconds on the news this morning and was very distressed with the cheering and applause in what SHOULD have been a solemn occasion.

The Asshat in Chief is back in Campaign mode.

Which is EXACTLY why I was watching NCIS reruns when this "memorial" was aired.

Guys, it seemed more to me that even hussein was getting a bit perturbed by the cheering and interruptions.  That was from watching his facial expressions.  I think that the onus is more on the college twats than barry.

Just my observation.

BTW, was there ever a confirmation on who actually passed out those damned t shirts?

If he was the leader he was supposed to be he would have gotten them to stop.  He was probably pissed that they didn't have his new campaign signs up in the air.

His new slogan will be... "In The Dope, We Hope"....has meaning for both the sober and the high DUmmies.

I saw that as well, Wasp, but I think it was just for show early on--as the cheering and applauding continued, he was basking in it and abandoned all pretense of annoyance.

Just making an observation.

Admittedly, I didn't watch it all.  But from what I did see, he seemed to be pretty annoyed by it.

Like I said, just an observation.

I listened to it on the radio and the cheering was unnerving. Should not have happened.

I also read that Obama gave the crowd a wave on his way out. Mr. President, THIS WASN'T ABOUT YOU!!

It wasn't just the crowd.  The university president did the introduction for 0bama, and it sounded like a straight up campaign stop: "intellectually gifted... guiding us through crisis"  :bs: .  That guy hyped him up, instead of just saying "And now, a few words from Barack 0bama." as would have been appropriate to a memorial
