Funny, I haven't seen this one mentioned anywhere at DU. :whistling:
Kanjorski in hot water after controversial remark reappears
By Andrew Staub (Staff Writer)
Published: January 12, 2011
A day after former congressman Paul E. Kanjorski penned an op-ed piece for The New York Times calling for civility in democracy after a shooting rampage in Arizona, the former Northeastern Pennsylvania congressman also found himself deflecting questions about comments he made that sharply contrast with Monday's editorial.
In October, Kanjorski opined to The Scranton Times-Tribune about Republican candidate for Florida governor Rick Scott, saying, "Instead of running for governor of Florida, they ought to have him and shoot him. Put him against the wall and shoot him."
Kanjorski's words went relatively unnoticed during his unsuccessful bid for a 14th term in Congress, but re-emerged this week after a brutal attack at an Arizona grocery store left six people dead and U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona clinging to life after she was shot in the head.
Reached by phone Tuesday, Kanjorski said "only fruitcakes" would take his statement about Scott literally.

Well you libs claim that some fruitcake saw Sarah Palin's graphic and shot a congresswoman. So if some fruitcake reads or hears what you said and tries to or does harm Scott then you will have blood on your hands. You know the goose and the gander, right?
-
Oh, wait! Someone did mention him, with predictable results.

3. Figures that you'd post this drivel...
adding feigned outrage commentary is a new twist, though

Yep truth = drivel to the DUmp.
-
Crosshairs = direct threat
"put up against a wall and shot" = harmless metaphor

The thread has been lying pretty much dormant, meaning: it's radioactive to them and they know it.
Cali, to her credit said Kanjorski said it and he owns it and it was stupid but then there's this:

2. My apologies in advance, this is probably evident to you...
... but what is the counter-statement about this?
Sorry, I have remotely heard of these two individuals in general termas, but not to the point to understand the counterpoint to the piece.
Got that? The relative obscurity of the primaries should have the level of rhetoric downgraded to harmless.
Well, who the hell heard Giffords before Saturday?
-
Primaries? Well...what the heck are those anyway? Don't they happen every decade or so?
:whatever: Idiots.

I wager if last friday night anyone who had said her name would have been responded to by, "Who is she?"
I'm not saying I don't feel for her and am not angry at the shooter because I am she just wasn't a household name until this goon shot her. If the event had gone off without anything happening we probably still would have to have Congresswoman from AZ by her name to know who she is.

No wonder Laelth thinks the left should remain silent.
-
Guilty as charged.
There's no excuse for that.
-Laelth
-
Going to go try you hand at debunking what TRG has said yet, there Laelth?
-
Guilty as charged.
There's no excuse for that.
-Laelth
If anything happens to Scott I am sure the left will excuse this guy.
Unlike Palin using a metaphor for Giffords political defeat this guy called for Scott to be shot.
All we wish on our political enemies is they get a chance to help stimulate the economy by being on unemployment.
-
Guilty as charged.
There's no excuse for that.

Guilty of what?
He's a jackass to be sure but nothing in what he said was an incitement to violence.
He certainly should not be silenced by law (read: as enforced by armed agents of the state). Perhaps he should be publicly shamed for being a jackass but that is the extent of it.

Not criminally liable, I agree, but guilty of inflaming hatred and harming our national discourse. I would not silence him by law, but I would shame him into better behavior. Ultimately, I agree with you on that.

Your insipidness inflames my hatred.
Now what?
-
Someone should put all the DUmmies against a wall - they can paint over all the graffiti and clean up the sidewalk while they're at it.
Every big city run by a Democrat ends up covered in graffiti and garbage, so they owe us :)

This is just one of thousands we could post! Guilty as charged is right!
Now when ya goin' to write that "essay" exposin' the left for the hypocrites they are and post it at the DUmp and all your other lefty outlets?
I know, I know, crickets chirpin'!
-

But is it like the color yellow (which makes jackwagons sad)? :whistling:

I think you're better qualified to write that essay. Let me know when you've got it done. I'd love to read it.

Again, I wouldn't hold you criminally liable (or even attempt to do so). Thoughts are not crimes in the United States, and I am invested in keeping it that way.
Now what, indeed?

Tale from the crypt, eh?

They are stacked up pretty high. There are corpses in trees, Jeb's ice truck is running late.
-
Palin wasn't the first one to put a bulls eye on targeting states. Actually there was a Democrat campaign that did that and they've done it since.
Gabby's shooter was known by classmates as a liberal pot head whose favorite music video showed flag burning.

So what's the point? You're not going to do anything so why bother making an issue unless you just like whining out loud in public.
-
Guilty as charged.
There's no excuse for that.

And yet you refuse to call out the many, many people on your side of the political spectrum who do just that--or worse.

Good point, and bumped to see what Laelth's answer will be.

Not my job. Patriots on the right are fully capable and better qualified to "call out" people on my side of the political spectrum for any and everything that might offend common decency.
That said, anybody who knows anything about me knows I call out error when I think it's important, and I have certainly been critical of people on the left--quite publicly, in fact, including the one instance that appears in this thread.

God forbid you actually stand up to what's being said by your fellow Libs and tell them it's wrong. Better to just stay quiet and give the impression by your silence that you agree with them.
So brave of you. And typically Liberal. Never take responsibility and always expect someone else to do the job for you.

Thoughts are only a crime if it's a Liberal being criticized by a Non Liberal.
Liberals are allowed to say the most hateful vile racist disgusting things about people who disagree with them and never feel any repercussions for it
-
Not my job.
-Laelth
Might I add gutless coward to TRG's list of typically liberal characteristics? Until you deem it bad, and police your own better, your silence is consent, troll.
