This is Rush's 60th Birthday today. I wasn't sure where to put this but thought Politics is appropriate.
I was raised on the radio since I was a baby, it seemed the radio was on in the house more than the TV, I grew up listening to Barry Farber, John A Gambling and then John B Gambling, then when I was about 8 years old someone named Bob Grant took to the airwaves, even at that young age I understood and agreed with a lot of what Bob would say. At that time WABC radio in NY was a music station, they changed over to a talk format in the early 80's. I think the year was 1988 that Rush broadcast for the 1st time on WABC. I remember listening to him and thinking WOW! he agrees with me on so many things. He was just so different than anyone else I listened to, he has a great sense of humor and he's so confident in his views, he's the sweeter cuddlier version of Bob Grant. Back then I was working a couple of jobs, split shift and going to school on and off so I wasn't able to listen that much, but I relished the days I could listen to him. I excitedly bought his books, and I still :lmao: my head off about the scene in 1 of his books, I think it was in San Francisco and women wanted access to a gym that was exclusively men, so the men did this, they set-up a room with equipment in it for the women to use, when the women walked in they found a bunch of irons and ironing boards :lmao:, and how can we forget his "movie" that he wanted to produce called "Gulf War The Movie" I remember crying from :lmao: so hard and wish I could find that tape out there.
Happy Birthday Rush and keep up the good work.

I did get to talk to Bo Snerdley once, I gave him some info to give to Rush when Scott Brown was running, it was totally exciting, Bo was very sweet. I think I'd be way too nervous talking to Rush though on the air.

Birthday dittos to El Rushbo! :)
I first started listening in high school ('94, I think - maybe '93), when Clinton was in office and prior to the Republican Revolution. I don't remember exactly how I became aware of Rush, but I think it had to do with criticism of Rush in the lamestream media, so I got home from school one day and decided to surf the stations and find out which one he was on.
I already knew I'd like Rush since I came from a basically right-leaning, working class, religious, and patriotic home. Every time I listen, I'm reminded of why I knew I'd like his show.
Hell, I fondly remember his TV show, too :)

Passed along my birthday wishes to Maja Rushie on his facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Rush-Limbaugh-and-the-EIB-Network/33618597905).

I didn't care for his TV show because
a) it was too short to really get into the issues and
b) it seems like they cut to commercial every 5 seconds of programing.
What he does on radio is much better iffin you ask me. Which you didn't. :-)

Yeah, the TV show was too short and the radio show was always far superior, but it was particularly novel to me back in the halcyon early days of my conservative awareness. Good times :)

I remember my dad would videotape his show and watch it when he got home on the weekend. Ahh, memories.

Did the same thing when I was in college. Ah, the VCR...

Well then, you're a little bit older than I am... I was in high school.

Happy Birthday Rush! :cheersmate:

Not too far off; I had just started college back then. Feels like remembering kindergarten, though...

Made it on with Rush one time. When Rather was fired for Fake But Accurate and the hunt was on for a new CBS News anchor.
I asked him if he maybe thought that CBS would try and regain some credibility by going after Brit Hume.
I've had far more success getting on with Levin.

Very cool you got to speak to Mark!

Just a quick note to say Happy 60th even if its a day or two late Rush.

Myself as well as my teenager have both gotten to talk to Mark a few times. Infact when Mark's book Rescuing Sprite came out he talked to Mark about the dogs and he was so impressed by my son he mailed him out a autographed copy.
