A DISCIPLINARY hearing found a British teacher who let two children play on a sled in the snow guilty of unacceptable professional conduct.
A General Teaching Council committee reprimanded Richard Tremelling for allowing the 15-year-old boys to have a turn after using it himself as part of a lesson demonstration, according to Sky News.
The reprimand will remain on his record for two years, but he can still continue to teach.
The 10-minute sled session that sparked the hearing passed without incident, The Sun reported earlier. But the principal, who had not authorised it, fired Mr Tremelling for breaking health and safety rules.
Rosa Fernandes, presenting the case, said: "He used the sled on snow-covered slopes at the rear of the school.
"He failed to carry out appropriate risk assessments and failed to provide a written risk assessment. He didn't ensure pupils were wearing protective headgear and clothing."
Society is going downhill. (http://www.news.com.au/world/teacher-guilty-of-unacceptable-conduct-for-letting-15-year-old-boys-use-sled/story-e6frfkyi-1225985981556)
I can remember parents dropping kids off at a local hilly golf course for sledding. No adults were to be found back then.

We've been lucky, and I didn't know how lucky.
Mine were able to ski or snowmobile to school and they could sled during lunch on the playground or use the town-provided ice skates on the rink that was otherwise the tennis courts.
What wimps.

Car hoods are a little hard to come by in the suburbs unless you really don't like your neighbors.
