Jared Loughner's parents gave the following statement

Edited on Tue Jan-11-11 06:15 PM by Mark Maker
The family of Jared Laughner handed out a statement to the media on Tuesday afternoon just before 4:00 p.m.

This is a very difficult time for us. We ask the media to respect our privacy. There are no words that can possibly express how we feel. We wish that there were so we can make you feel better. We don't understand why this happened. It may not make any difference, but we wish that we could change the heinous events of Saturday. We care very deeply about the victims and their families. We are so very sorry for their loss.

Thank you,
The Loughner Family

Reporter on scene Sandra reports 2 men in suits, maybe lawyers, came out and handed statement to media and answered no questions.

15. Glad to hear this. For a time I was worried that they were rabid teabaggers who raised

their son to be horrible.

Yep, leave them in peace for now. Their stories will come out in due time.

Well if he was a rabid tea bagger why should the parents be any different?

17. You still don't know that isn't the case...

But yes, leave them alone... we don't have enough information.

Now you want to wait for more information. Funny how no one wanted to wait one second before blaming the Tea Party.

I feel sorry for them to have such a monster for a child. What if it had been one on our side they would nail the parents to a cross

What are the chances that one of the parents was a DU poster?  The more I read the more I wonder.

Well, well, me not so much.  They knew what was on their hands and what did they do?  The JC came and told them about the fear his fellow students and the teachers had. What did they do?

I am sure that they now have deep and sincere feelings but what did they do when they could?

Bitchslap me if you want but you know I am right.

Well, since she worked for the government she's most likely an SEIU member which means they most likely won't be right wing.

I read somewhere that her job with the city parks department or whatever it was may have been why sheriff Lobo overlooked the signs of craziness from Loughner.

I heard that sheriff DUchenik is the shooter's grandfather.

Sourced and fact checked just as well as the NYT, NPR, ABC, CBS, NBS. MSNBC, WAPO,....

The parents and the Sherriff had every chance to stop this kid and failed. I'm not so sympathetic for them and the Sherriff needs to resign for the statements he has made which is technically hampering a Federal investigation and future prosecution.

Call the waaaaaaaaaambulance! These people knew without a doubt their child was damn near goin' off the deep end before this happened! I would know if I had some kind of VooDoo shrine in a tent in my backyard!

I have no sympathy whatsoever! If they and DUmbDick had put a little more effort into helping him, this wouldn't have happened! If one of my kids had shown these signs, he sure as hell wouldn't be out buyin' guns! He'd be in the rubber room, period! Family members can have nutjobs locked up for their and society's safety! They get no pass from me!

**** 'em! Privacy indeed! Oh and they care about the victims after the fact! Ain't that sweet!

The thing is, there's careerist FBI agents that have absolutely zero problem with crucifying idiots like that sheriff.  I hope that Eric Holder doesn't try to obstruct them--else new Attorney General Rick Santorum will, in February of 2013, bring him up on serious obstruction of justice charges.

There was a situation several years ago on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. A town police officer and a sheriff's deputy went out to investigate a noise complaint and were both killed.
Turns out that the shooter was a mental case who's mother tried several times to get him committed. But the socialist state of Maryland kept cutting him loose time after time. He stole a gun and took two lives and almost a third. Well the state finally took responsibility and kept him in prison till he died. That alone should show why you never rely on the state to do anything other than finance the subway cats boobie-ectomy.

For additional heartbreak in the story. This happened early in the morning on Valentine's day and the deputy was engaged to the town police chief's daughter. The poor guy not only lost one of his officers but also his future son in law.

Since this only involves White people, there is an outside chance that this could be the first thing he's responsible for that he doesn't **** up royally.  But I'm not holding my breath.

I had the same thought today myself. The apparent lack of any sort of parental involvement. The allowing what any sane person is going to consider a very freaky alter in their backyard. The lack of statement until 4 days later. Then the brief standoff with the FBI Monday afternoon all have the taint of moonbat to it.

Yup there is some definite taint there.  Stay at home dad a bit on the angry anti social side?

I'm just a lowly engineer but I feel as iff I personally have been slandered by sheriff DUchenik.  Can I file a bunch of small claims cases against him?  Will those cases be won by his  DUcheness not showing up?

Not sure what you are saying here but the fact is there is little a Sherriff can do unless the crazy does begin to act out big time, such as trying to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge and causes a big traffic tie up. .As long as someone does not cause a huge problem  for the comunity and cost them time and money, there are just to many odd balls causing problems to send them to involuntary commitment.

If I remember correctly it was the early 1970 when under Nixon because of the cost all over the country Hospitals for the diagnoses of the mentally ill were closed down and the poor confused people put on the streets homeless and told they had to get help from local out patient clinics.

It did not matter that the comunity they were in had NO outpatient clinics, some of these poor people needed supervision to just insure they took their medication.         If you think things have changed, think again.

One cannot commit a person against their will unless that person has DONE something outrageous to show they are a threat to themselves or others. Simply placing a skull and candles with some dirt in the back yard is odd but that person may be practicing Voodoo and that is a protected religion.  OR they may just be putting found objects in some area to get them out of the way.

So if this mans teachers, fellow students, friends and family had marched down to the Sherriffs office and told him that the man was acting strangely, what was he to do about it, the man was an Adult and to lock him up in a mental health facility against his will would bring in 112 lawyers and kidnapping charges for all.

About the Sherriff, if he did get informed some nut was issuing threats against a member or members of the comunity, then his only advice was to the people to get restraining orders against that person.   Did any of the recipient's get any kind of restraining order.?

If we expect our police to come running and lock up every person that marches to their own drummer, there would not be enough people left to support them in institutions.  Quite a few of us would loose kids that act out, get into trouble and wear red hats when everyone else is wearing green.

Uh, Vesta, Sheriff LimpDick coulda at least put this nutjob on a federal watchlist and kept him from buyin' the handgun he used to kill people!

Could he obtain one somewhere else? More than likely, but he doesn't strike me as havin' that kind of knowledge. He was a loner college dropout!

Likely he was hearin' voices, likely his parents knew it, and they with the help of sheriff DUmbDick could have done something! As it is, they didn't do a damn thing and 6 are dead!

But what the hey! You can get a T-shirt from Obiewan!

BS.....AZ has some of the most relaxed involuntary commitment laws

Quote
Arizona, however, has one of the most flexible statutes for involuntary commitment and allows anyone with knowledge of the person’s behavior — a teacher, a parent, a police officer, a friend — to petition for a court-ordered mental health evaluation, the first step toward involuntary treatment, said Kristina Ragosta, legislative and policy counsel at the Treatment Advocacy Center in Arlington, Va.
