I f'd up the phone interview for a mail clerk position!!! Argh!

I've got a degree in economics and have worked in finance for more than 15 years. But that ended when the world economy collapsed. Have had temp and PT work here and there, but no perm employment since Dec 31, 2007.

At first I was going for a horizontal move, but that was unfruitful. Then I went to a trade school and got a degree in HVAC. Had 6 or 7 really good interviews, thought I would be offered a position each time, but nothing. And those interviews ended in June. Haven't had one since.

So I've lowered the bar again. Looking for work as a cashier, a driver, and most recently, a mail clerk. I actually got a call for the mail clerk position today! Woo hoo! But I f'd up the phone interview.

The job description made the position sound like I'd be sorting freaking mail! So the HR gal asks me what about this job interests you. So I says, "Well, from the job description, this looks like a fast paced job that will keep me up and active. I've worked behind a desk for years now and I'm looking for something different." (****, I don't care, I just want a ******* job!)

She says, "Oh, well this is a desk job."

I mean, how was I supposed to know they were hiring a mail clerk for a desk job? Certainly not from the job description.

What really happened was they asked if you were willing to take the drug test and you said NO.

DU is not just political. DU is also a place to hear about their life. It's sad isn't it?

I think this dude's got a bouncy going on.
He said, "since the world economy crash" and then goes on to say that he's only had PT and temporary work since 2007. Didn't the recession start in 2008? :fuelfire:

Maybe if he put the bong down long enough, someone might hire him.

Or not since he is still a DUmmy.

I'm still wondering how a person with a degree in Econ says to themselves, "I think HVAC is the way to go!"

And if they were even SLIGHTLY motivated to get the **** up out of bed in the morning, they'd have more money than they knew what to do with doing HVAC work even if only slightly competent.

And no, DUmmies, that 2-day course on how to run ducting and blow insulation doesn't really qualify.

This is a DUmmie we're talking about here. 2-3 days without a bong hit? No way. Best this one could do was a do-it-yourself clinic at Home Depot.

And to those of you DUmmies who think HVAC is a easy paycheck, it ain't.  When's the last time you ran a boiler for a house, or installed central air?  Now let's get into COMMERCIAL properties?  **** most of you idiots couldn't even wire a 480-volt motor without either getting it wrong or electrocuting yourselves.

Well, I'm not sure what it is that an undergraduate degree in economics qualifies one for, and even more so in the case of the probably bogus mail-order degree a DUmmy would have. It's sort of like a B.A. in English. Of course, a degree in econ could be a stepping stone to a highly valuable MBA, which is great; otherwise, HVAC certification may be a better ticket to a good job. But it's likely the author of this bouncy is at best an unemployed bank teller or Target clerk.

His economics degree was a hindrance when he kept coming up with Potato as the answer to everything. :-)

That was after they made him start over, when they busted him plagiarizing Douglas Adams by answering "42" for everything.

Oh ****! Don't remind me!

When I first moved to Idaho in '78 the only job I could find was workin' for the school district Janitorin'. Luckily, I was hired on! Unfortunately it was maintainin' a school built in 1910!

Had a coal fired boiler for heat! Anyone who has ever shoveled "clinkers" knows, you don't let the fire go out! Ever! Restartin' a coal fired boiler ain't easy! So much for a day off, durin' winter time at least!

To make a long story short, was one of the lousiest jobs I ever had! If it had just been the boiler, it wouldn't have been so bad, but the school was for kindygarden thru 2nd grade! Little bastards!

I had one little prick that was afraid of the toilet, so he shit in the urinal! Every stinkin' day! Then the little bastards decided they could use the deodorant cakes for frisbees! I don't need to tell ya how disgusting that could be!

Little bastards!

Then, if that weren't enough, Mt St Helens puked enough ash to bury 100 square miles of ash over in Washington, and guess which way the wind ****in' blew? Havin' been built in 1910 you can guess how "air tight" the place was! Did I mention it was all hardwood panelling, staircases, and floors? You could see dust from a block away with the doors closed! Took me a damn month to get all the ash out of the place! Heaven forbid the little bastards breathe any of it! If it were up to me, I'd of spoon fed it to the little shits! Little boys are filthy little ****ers when they know they don't have to clean it up!

Wasn't long after that I took a job settin' chokers behind a Cat for a login' outfit in 3 feet of snow! It was easier, by far!

Becoming a REAL HVAC tech these days, the eminently-employable kind, involves a pretty solid understanding of electronic test equipment and control systems, I have a hard time imagining a DUmmie from a soft-science background like econ succeeding in making it through a real course on that.  I expect that 'school' really was just running ducts and blowing insulation.
