They are reading the amended Constitution right now.
Nazi about choked reading her part. :-)
-
I hope they are actually paying attention. Seriously. I'll bet most of them have either never read it or it was so long ago they've forgotten what they once knew .... and that is for BOTH sides.

That's right, asshats--that's what you were supposed to be following and limited by for the last God-knows-how-many years. It's never too late to learn.

We can only hope.
The democrats tried to force a reading of the whole thing, even the amended out parts but after a short debate they shut that idea down.

I am watching C-SPAN off and on.
It seems kind of empty in there. Is this normal? Or did some people refuse to show up to read the Constitution?

They only get to read a sentence or 2 each. The ones you see sitting are the ones waiting to do their part. The ones who have already left. You'll see that alot on C-Span, a fiery impassioned speech and a long shot out to see 5 people there watching. It's very disheartening.

Article I, Section 10:
"No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay."
Wouldn't that mean states such as Arizona, California, New Mexico and/or Texas have the right to repel the invasion of illegal immigrants AND the recent Arizona law would actually be Constitutional?

That's what I thought. No one was really in there even listening. Kind of sad.

I agree. This Article and section is often cited--correctly, in my view--as one of the Constitutional circuit breakers rendering secession illegal, as it denies the states all the accoutrements of power associated with nation-statehood, but it has that unless clause.

The Dems just can't hate their country enough, can they?
