The US military is the single largest consumer of oil in the world Updated at 5:24 PM
Time for a Change's post about the collapse of civilization (http://journals.democraticunderground.com/Time%20for%20... )reveals some pretty startling facts, the most serious of which is that the US military is an engine to perpetuate world conflicts because it has to have all the oil to survive.
If we could just get rid of the US military and the DOD entirely (let's keep the Coast Guard) we'd end our budget problem immediately, probably become energy independent, end the cause of most of the warfare, and be able to turn America into a garden.

Great idea can the Army and pay people to sit at home and smoke dope and munch on cheetos all day.

3. Thats insane
I did not know that. Imagine how much we could help the environment and reduce our dependence on oil if we just gutted the military. Its pretty depressing when you think about it, the largest consumer of oil on the planet is funded by our tax payer dollars and is completely and totally unnecessary, those tanks, jets, and trucks shouldn't even exist, let alone cost us billions in fuel costs.
And they said Zell Miller was stupid for suggesting that dems wanted us to fight wars with rocks and sticks.
-
Unbelievable. :mental:
-
That's a big 'ole bucket of stupid right there.
Hey Coasties, do you want to go to war with any of the big countries Navies?

Yeah, that's a great idea.:mental: Wow, the stupid is rampant on the DUmp.
-
NO! Obama and his voters are the largest consumers of oil... Now which ones do I want to get rid of....the military or the DUmmies.
That was a hard decicion....took at least a nanosecond to think about it....of course, it could have just been old age.
-
I know most of you consider me stupid but even I have to shake my head over this.
I think this is appropriate.

Well, I would have to wonder then why we didn't just shoot up to Alberta, slap a couple of Canadians around, throw up a U.S. flag, and then call it a day?
-
Oh wait...... that was the plan wasn't it and here I am wiki-leaking it...... please don't make me turn in my VRWC card. :bawl:

I would SO love to know where these idiots came up with this theory.

Why not. Life has gotten kind of boring, anyways. :sarcasm:

Terrorist nukes will not kill THAT many people. Only millions, plus many more through radiation induced cancer, but we should not retaliate because the attack was somehow our fault. Life under the heel of the up and coming Chinese empire will not be that bad; you will just be shot if you do not contribute to the collective and the price of the bullet will be charged to your family. Those Mexican drug cartels? They'll shoot you dead if they think you are a liability, but at least you'll be able to smoke your precious pot as long as you live! Yeah, let's throw away the military and throw open the gates!

Of course it's our fault! We developed the technology didn't we? We showed the world how effective a weapon they are didn't we? We let all the information leak out didn't we?
Don't you worry about all that we just beat them to it shit you hear, that's all just propaganda as is that whole Rosenberg thing. They were just scapegoats to cover up the intentional leak. /DUmmie

That was the exact thing they said after 9/11 too.
As for oil consumption...I always assumed China with it's 3 billion plus people was the biggest comsumer of petroleum.

Not just oil, but fossil fuels in general (especially coal). China naturally has a carbon footprint the size of Jupiter and Beijing's smog makes Los Angeles look pristine, but not a peep from the DUmmies or any other regressives. I really wonder what drives them to hate their own country so much.

So why do the dims want to put so many people out of work? I thought they were all for government jobs?

The military and military industrial complex hold real jobs of importance that produce....the DUmmies want more dollor burning, touchy-feely, do nothing jobs....you know, the kind they can hold.

I believe you're right txradioguy. China does consume more oil than the U.S. They were talking about it on Fox and Fox Business News this morning.

Damn, General, the sly bastards at DU are onto world-domination scheme 42-Bravo. Shall I green-light the kill teams?

There isn't much turnover in the fluffy kitten secretary business.

I shouldn't be surprised with their utter stupidity anymore but I am. Can they even find their asses to wipe them? It's like putting mercury in the light bulbs to save the planet. We may die of mercury poisoning and damage the the planet by releasing poison into the air, but their intentions were good. Whenever they get on their "military is bad" kick I always think of this:
Marines in Berkeley (http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-march-10-2008/marines-in-berkeley)

Trust me, girl, you really don't want to know the answer to that one.
