Greedy Old Tea Party White Guys are Robbing Their Grand Children

........................

It's the youth of America who should be really pissed off.

Their sweet little old grandfathers have just sold them all down the river without even a second thought.

"Hey, Grandpa! Where's my education, where's my job, where's my clean air, where's my future?"

"Sorry, sonny. I bought a war and got my tax cuts and socialized programs -- even though socialized programs are a Communist plot -- with that money instead."

You bought a war? A war? I mean seriously, grandpa. You didn't just splurge on one or two occasional wars. You bought a whole bunch of wars. "World War I, World War II, the Cold War, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Israeli/Palestinean wars, Iraq and Afghanistan, the war on drugs, the war on terror...."

2. While that is true never before has so much cost been laid at the feet of the next generation.

The national debt is $14 trillion. Even WITH the expiration of Bush tax cuts and ending of the wars (Iraq in 2012, and Afghanistan in 2015) it is projected to grow to $24T by 2020.

This will be a cripling blow to the prosperity of the next generation. They will face BOTH much higher taxes at all income ranges (100% tax on rich wouldn't be sufficient) AND less services.
Essentially a huge portion of their tax base will simply go to paying the bills that were left to them. It is one thing to decide you want big govt and then pay for it, or you want small govt and face the consequences of reduces services. This generation has had big govt without paying the bills. The difference between what we "want" and what we are willing to pay just gets pushed down the line.

Just for clarification I am not for cutting deficit during the recession but once we see economic recovery we really need to get serious and make some tough decisions because the status quo is a prosperity death sentence for the next generation.

Most of that can be laid squarely at the feet of Obama/Reid/Pelosi.

8. Exactly. Why shouldn't they be mad their labors have been obligated by people who refused to

Appropriately volunteer their own?

Some generation got the goodies and another got a raw deal because of it.

It's easier to defend demographics, like the fact there are so many baby boomers to take care of. It is more difficult to explain unpaid debts.

11. +1. This credit card mentality has got to go.

Bill Clinton balanced the budget, Obama can do it. Get re-elected on a platform of "no new taxes", then raise them anyway (worked for Bush 41).

Clinton's balanced budget was a figment of the imagination. It only existed by shady bookkeeping.

24. At $24T the interest on the debt would be $700B a year.

Unsustainable.

Hell, at $350B we're already hearing about the Friskies Generation.

To make  it even worse, look at what happens with every government program. Projections of spending are always low-balled, like medicare/medicaid have been just to get them passed. The cost of Obamacare will dwarf those unless this congress shuts it down.

3. K&R. You SHOULD all be pissed off, and you should all be Democrats at least,

and rioting in the streets of DC starting Monday.
Just wait to see what the GOP congress has in store for you and your future...

4. As a baby boomer who can remember the first Earth Day and the creation of the EPA,

I remember all too well the warnings we were given to stop polluting our planet. Watching those come true 40 years later is rather infuriating.

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?  Pollution is much less today, 40 years ago air quality was worse than now.

9. "No taxation without representation" is not a newly-minted idea.

As it is now, children not yet born will be taxed as adults to pay for BushCo's profligate spending on wars and tax cuts for his cronies.

Reality to Sal:  :censored: off.  Look at how much the dems have increased the deficit compared to President Bush and the GOP.

16. How will they be obligated to pay taxes with jobs that won't afford that?

What they are going to do is live in a third world society with a few big bosses they'll be beholden to for everything.

In such places, it's not taxes paid to the government, it's bribes or favors given to the bosses.

And freedom? What freedom do you have when one word gets to the boss they don't like, and you lose everything?

We're fast going to that system for those still trying to exist within any system. Maybe that's the lesson for this generation coming up.

Don't belong to anything except your family and tribe, and shut up about politics, you're too low to affect anything.

Sorry if I got too far off your point there. But if I can't say here, where else can I? The RW has taken over most internet message boards.

DUmmies refuse to take the responsibility for the cost of their free ponies.

Ummmm yeah - I have a 25-year-old son and I don't think he's ever once asked where those things are - he's gone out and gotten them himself!  This is a concept the DUmmies will never live and will certainly never teach their children.  It's sad, too.  He's more interested in why he's working so hard to pay taxes to pay for people who won't.  He's seeing what is happening in this country.

But seriously, I've never heard any young person ask where is their clean air?  If you know teenagers, they have no concept of "clean air."

Well, at least we finally got a contribution from our new Top DUmmy that isn't one of her numbskull copy-and-paste jobs ala the intellectually-challenged DUmmy kpete. You'd think she would be trying to make a point to those of us who don't think she deserved the recognition, but noooo. With all this attention focused on her, DUmmy Proud2BDUmb Anne is embarassing herself even more. An enormous choke job.

My Generation was royally screwed by the Adults who were born in the 1930 era.   It was their parents that fought for them, survived the great Depression, and after the war millions of men and woman took advantage of the GI bill and became educated.  They sacrificed to send their kids to college and live with no worries or cares--no responsibility!!!!!

Somewhere in here the teachers only 10-15 years older then us began to teach that they and we were entitled to live a better life then our parents. Crazy, and wanting to make a name for themselves they taught the exact opposite of the beliefs of our parents.

It was not until the 1960's and the drugs came into vogue that these teachers were able to ensnare the students with progressive ideas.

In order to dumb down the students, the progressives went to college campuses and passed out LSD to the kids.  They kept the kids dependent not on their family's life style but drugs and a  "Free " life.

The parents of these kids had gone through hell fire to raise the kids so they would not have to endure what they had survived. Now the kids wanted--no--demanded more as they fed on guilt of their parents for their upbringing.  All the head shriekers that at the time convinced parents that when little Johnny set fire to the cat, he was just expressing anger over not being allowed to do as he pleased.  Kids must not be stopped from voicing their wants or setting the kitchen on fire.

Soon the kids taking the path brought on by the teachers and drugs left home and lived a sad life as hippies, flea infested but so doped up they never noticed.  The VN war was not protested by the kids, it was the teachers and other adults that pushed for the kids involvement, not to stop the war but to make a name for themselves.

Later the real terrorists, who formed the gangs to blow up the statue of liberty, incited race riots and with nothing better to do spawned Charles Manson, the SLA, the Weathermen, the Black Panthers etc.

I watched all this happen, LUCKY me I had rebelled by getting married at a very early age and was too busy changing diapers and moving every couple years as I had been born into a military and married into one.  No Hippie life for me, no drugs or teachers to convince me to that my Country was all wrong.

Had I not rebelled and had the influence of Wacko teachers, I would not have lived to be but 20 years old if that.  Today the ex-hippies who went home finally to parents that that were willing to take them back no questions asked, now have children of their own that confuse the heck out of them.----And grandchildren that want to remain children all their lives.

Hell of a mess three generations that wandered about in a drug induced haze , and may have begun to breed themselves. What will become of these children, will they continue to follow a family tradition of Narcissism, ME FIRST grow up with no fathers or mothers that don't want to be bothered with them.?

I remember the first Earff Day and I remember the creation of the EPA too. I also remember the warnings they were giving concerned the planet cooling.
I remember all the pollution hype resulting in Lake Erie being saved, major strides in reducing sewage and waste water output into lakes, streams and the oceans. Gas station tanks are strictly regulated, wells are monitored more. Cars get better gas mileage and have reduced emmissions, Coal plants and incinerators are watched closer and 20,000 other things I can't name because of space and time. So yes I remember but I don't have the liar gene to cloud my eyes like you do Anne.

Bill Clinton balanced the budget, Obama can do it.    (Sure the community organizer can. ::) Just pay 90% of your pay check in taxes to the gubberment. Have you seen the size of the debt??)
Get re-elected on a platform of "no new taxes", then raise them anyway (worked for Bush 41).    (Don't you worry DUmmies. The inexperienced community organizer will raise taxes,...on EVERYTHING!)
