A senior Iranian commander says Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has so far shot down two Western spy planes in the Persian Gulf.
"Westerners have a series of capabilities from long ago which cannot be ignored… for example they have spy drones which can take pictures in some places," IRGC Air Force Commander Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said on Sunday.
"But they (Westerners) use these [drones] mostly in countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan and they do not dare using these [planes] in our country," Fars News Agency quoted Hajizadeh as saying.
The Iranian commander added that few aggressions have happened against Iran and IRGC has so far downed many of their advanced spy planes.

i think it's complete rubbish, but we'll see what "evidence" they give.

I've seen some of their "capabilities". Color me unimpressed.

"reverse engineered?"
:wtf3:
How the hell are the Persians gonna do that when the guts of the freakin' system ain't been shot down with the ******* plane????
Like Frank says - "Lies. All lies."

You're right Euph. That's the point where all the yellow "BULLSHIT" flags started hitting the field for me, too. Iran is a terrorist state; therefore they "make war" by engaging in terrorizing those around them.
This seems like a classic "My big brother is an Airborne Ranger and will beat you up" kind of statement meant to put enough pause into other folks as to give the Iranians with the jaybird mouths a little breathing room for their hummingbird asses.

This little piece of shit is Iran's "new" fighter jet:

An F-22 would use that thing like a target drone.
Oh, wait, some JACKASS just canceled the F-22 program. :censored:

That thing is an "updated" F-5. Yup--it'd be spashed quickly. Hell, an F/A-18 would use it as a drone.

OT: The S.C. Air National Guard will be trading in their F-16's for the new F-35's.

Rather be in a 16 than a 35 in a dogfight. ...but that's just my opinion. The 16 is much faster. Just from people I know that are in the naval and air force aviation fields, you don't want to tangle with Russia's 5th generation fighter in a 35. The F-22 is a pure, balls to the wall, fighter. ...and the Kenyan just canceled the program.

Not impressed with the Iranian fertilizer spreaders they have.

Well, given the fact that the F-35 was designed from the outset as a STRIKE fighter - ie: a tactical bomber like the F-111 was or the 'Strike Eagle' version of the F-15, which the F-35 was purportedly designed to replace, I have no doubt that the F-35 would have a more difficult time in the air superiority role that the F-16 would.
(I was also less than impressed with the tradeoffs the F-35 made in payload in order to boast stealth technology in it's airframe, but in that matter, I'm willing to let it prove me wrong.)

The JSF wasn't designed to be an air-superiority fighter, the F-22 was. Now what do we do when we don't have any Raptors?

Anything one can get up in the air is a danger be it hot air balloon or as we saw in 911 a commercial passenger plane.

What are you talking about? We're talking about air superiority, and the fact that we'll be the one major power WITHOUT a speed and tactical advantage due to the cutting of the F-22 program. I don't think anyone sitting in the cockpit of a Raptor is going to get all skeered if he sees a hot-air balloon.

Doctor Who took down the CyberKing Juggernaut from a hot air balloon.
