Texas Police Say Baby Probably Cried Before 14-Year-Old Mom Killed Him in Flush Attempt
BAYTOWN, Texas — A baby born to a 14-year-old mother in a restroom at her junior high was alive at birth, dying only after she tried to flush it down the toilet, officials said Thursday.
Police also announced Thursday that the baby born Wednesday was a boy.
Baytown police Lt. Eric Freed said the baby boy was probably full term and cried once before his mother tried to flush him down the toilet.
An autopsy confirmed the infant was alive.
The mother, an eighth-grader at Cedar Bayou Junior High, was taken to a hospital Wednesday. People who knew her at school said she wore baggy clothing, and nobody suspected she was pregnant, the Houston Chronicle reported Thursday.
School officials first learned of her pregnancy when another student in the restroom when the eighth-grader was in labor rushed to the school nurse to ask for help, said Kathy Clausen, spokeswoman for Baytown's Goose Creek school district. The nurse and an assistant principal ran back to the bathroom, discovered the girl had already given birth and called 911.
Authorities have not announced what, if any, charges the girl will face. Killing an infant is a capital crime in Texas, but 14-year-olds are too young to be eligible for the death penalty, said Geoffrey Corn, an assistant professor at South Texas College of Law.
The incident came just three days after another 14-year-old girl delivered a stillborn fetus in the bathroom of an airplane on her way back to Houston from a middle-school field trip.
Baytown is about 25 miles east of Houston.
...but if she had murdered the baby the day before....libs would have no problem with it. :banghead:

At least she wasn't, in Obama's words,

Me either, Dixie! I keep wondering where this girl's parents were? I can see friends, maybe even teachers not knowing, but parents? She's 14...wouldn't mom at least notice she's not buying sanitary pads every month?

I agree with you too there are no words but I would like to know how she would feel knowing that her mom had tried to do the same thing would she be able to murder a newborn like that. There are days when I think Hell couldn't open up enough spare room for all the evil ****s this world creates

How emotionally stunted do you have to be for the cry of a baby... YOUR baby, not to affect you?
GAWD!

Yeah, I can't fit this kind of depravity in my head. This is 2008. Having a baby at 14 isn't like it used to be (the merits of which can be aruged another time). My point is that she could gone to anyone and gotten help. I'l even be generous and say that she didn't know she was pregnant and was freaked out after delivering it in a bathroom. Heck, I was a grown woman of 27 and had my delivery scheduled and I still freaked out.
My point is that nothing would have happened to her legally if she had not tried to flush the baby. God, I can't even believe I just typed that out. It's so insane.
If she had not done anything other than summon help, we would not even be reading about this story. The girl and the newborn would have taken away to the hospital and the family would be then left to deal with her and the child. I cannot accept that a girl of 14 in 2008 thinks that disposing of the child in a toilet is her only option. Not with the way pro-abortionists and the ilk have made much of their services to teens.

This is the second time a dead baby was found in a bathroom in Houston area. It's big news here. It's really ****ed up shit right there. Why they even get pregnant to begin with???????????
-
Putting aside the depravity of this how do these young women get these babies out in just minutes? It took me 2 to 3 hours of pushing with each kid. Damn.
That said, I'll address the parental give a damn part. After BEG's comment the other day of children going to school in their pajamas, it occured to me that there really are parents out there who could care less about their children, neglect them, or worse. It's not hard to imagine that if this young lady were saddled with such an arrangement how she was able to go months without anyone knowing anything about it in her home. The whole thing just makes me sick.

Heart breaking to say the least.
Here in NC there's this:
What you know about North Carolina's Safe Surrender Law could save a life
North Carolina’s Safe Surrender Law allows an overwhelmed parent to surrender a newborn to a responsible adult and walk away. The baby will then be placed in a loving home.
An infant up to 7 days old may be surrendered to any responsible adult.
Safe surrender is anonymous and legal.
Call 1-800-FOR-BABY. In an emergency, call 911.
Please help spread the word about the Safe Surrender Law!

^I know. It's really sad isn't it? I think all states have some sort of Moses law like that. I know that fire stations in some places will even let people drop off a newborn no questions asked.

Texas has that law too.

Georgia has a pretty good Safe Haven Law. I know that, aside from hospitals and clinics, fire stations and even grocery stores are designated as Safe Havens. I know where I used to work, they had the yellow Safe Haven sign posted at the front.

Florida has one. . .you can leave a week old baby at a fire station in Florida and it's perfectly legal to do so. Not sure about Grocery shops here though.

We have those same laws here in Texas. You can take a baby to any fire department or hospital. In my town also the local community center and First United Methodist church takes babies in.
Very sad.

Gosh, this is just more heartbreaking. On top of the fact that society wouldn't shun this girl for being pregnant, there are public places and govt buildings that will take a newborn no questions asked. She had options. Lots of options. And you cannot tell me that in 2008, she wasn't aware of some of them.

As of right now there is only one state that doesn;t allow anyone to safely drop off a newborn with a hospital or firestation or church. That state is Alaska and what she did was cold blooded murder . She may not get the chair but a good long stay in the state lockup is about the best we can get.

Yeah. How can she not even know she was pregnant???????? We've had strings of babies getting killed with Riley Ann Miller (Baby Grace), Elijah Mullis, the baby found in a Continental Airlines airplane, and now this. WTF????????????????
