Get ready for more pain.. Gas going back to $5 a gallon
Financial speculation is back BIG TIME in the oil market.
The Wall Street Journal on Dec 20th reports that hedge funds and money managers are again using oil as speculation. October 2008 saw gasoline go to $5 a gallon on $145 a barrel oil, and we are headed back to that point.
If you pay $5 a gallon at the pump..you pay $1 to Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley for speculation.
This is a 16% increase in oil in the last 6 months.

Hold on now!!! I thought it was the eeeevil oil men Bush and Chaney that caused that? ::)
-
I guess George Soros and his hedge fund would never speculate on oil futures. :whistling:
-
I don't care how high fuel prices go. I drive a diesel jetta that gets amazing mileage that can also run on biodiesel and various waste oils. I'm not not exactly concerned.
-
Hey DUmmies...you wouldn't have to worry about $5 a gallon gas if the Enviro-Nazi's in your party would let us drill for the oil under our own soil.
Instaed you gleefully go along with their plan to make gas so expensive we HAVE to accept their green tech crap.
And at the same time bitch about the results of what they are trying to do.
STFU and go take public trainsportation to the Employment Office.

Willie Nelson, is that you?
-
Willie Nelson, is that you?
Probably not. But I bet we just solved a rash of used cooking oil thefts from local fast food restraunts where this guy lives.
-
The creeping rise in gas prices has nothing to do with speculation - it has to do with a certain Democrat-controlled government printing so much money that our currency has been devalued internationally. But don't let that fact get in your way.

Inflation will see all of those fuels go up.
-
On the campaign trail, Obama basically said he was happy with high gas prices. How does this surprise anyone?
-
Probably not. But I bet we just solved a rash of used cooking oil thefts from local fast food restraunts where this guy lives.
He might run that thing on cooking oil for a little while but he'll be broke down by the side of the road soon enough.... :rotf:

DUmmies don't think things thru to the end results.
That's the understatement of the year!
Notice how liberals have been complaining about how our education system is broken? Broken? And who broke it? Oh yeah, it's those liberals starting decades ago who decided to stick their noses into the education system in every state. Now that their policies have completely eviscerated our education system, they want to fix it. And as usual, fixing to them means carelessly throwing massive amounts of taxpayer dollars at it. We all know the saying about insanity. That insanity is all liberals and DUmmies know.
This is along the same lines as Barney Frank and Chris Dodd being left to fix the financial system in this country - the one they and their party socially engineered to redistribute wealth? Oh, now they discover that social engineering didn't work and in fact, it brought our economy to its knees and ruined the lives of people who lived responsibly and saved money for their rainy days.
One thing is for sure ~ history has shown those of us who live in reality know that more liberal government involvement in the things that affect our everyday lives ends up in the FUBAR pile and causes more pain and more devastation down the line for everyone except the politicians who get voted out and just move into a lobbying role.
The law of unintended consequences is repeatedly lost on DUmmies and liberals. Because reality and personal responsibility is genetically missing from their psyche, they always blame others, especially those evil rich people. They should be thanking those evil rich people for paying taxes to pay for their various entitlements.

4. & that's what the upper crust is doing with their tax cuts -- taking a flyer on commodities
so the price to you is jacked up.
Hannah Bell, you stupid Communist dolt. NOBODY GOT A TAX CUT.

You should be, dumbass. BTW--how does the food get to your grocery store? What generates a great deal of electricity you consume? What heats your home? How is, well, pretty much ALL commerce conducted?
Skittle-shitting ponies that eat only fluffy rainbows?
Edit: redundant redundancy.

Don't waste your time trying to explain that to a DUmmie. You would get far better results talking to a DUmmies' pet rock.

Unless you actually own a fast-food franchise and have priority access to waste cooking oil and filter it, you're only fooling yourself. What happens with $5 oil is that more alternative fuel vehicles get bought, refurbed, or retrofitted, and the one guy who has been scavenging waste fry oil in town for free now has to compete with 50 other people for the same amount of low-hanging fruit, which means that 48 or 49 times out of 50, you end up having to fill it up with real Diesel at the pump...And last time oil was that high, Diesel went considerably higher than 87 octane gas per gallon, so the Diesel drivers got screwed worse than the gasoline drivers.
Biodiesel, ethanol, etc. are not produced in isolation from petrochemicals, they require close to the amount of their energy output to make, most of which comes from those petrochemical commodities. Without subsidies they are useless for anything beyond small-scale tinkering and experiments.
However, $5 gas WILL make a (Highly-subsidized) Volt purchase look like a semi-good idea, since the vast majority of the recharging current comes from coal plants.
-
Let's not forget that the EPA is going to impose CO2 emission standards on power plants and oil refineries. Yet another nail in the economic coffin. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20101223/pl_afp/usclimatewarmingenergy_20101223161306

Local news this morning, said the average around town was at $3.05.
But, hey....Obama doesn't care....we taxpayers are paying for all of his gasoline to run his limo, jet planes and helicopters.

Well, bully for you! You do realize that a worldwide spike in fuel prices drives up the cost of everything, right?
Nah, what the hell am I thinking, it just affects the rest of us little people.
DUmbass...
-
Lenin said the way to crush the middle class was with taxation and inflation. Obama is doing both.
The battle cry of the donk party is energy independence but they really means energy rationing and a lower quality of life. A democrat has never looked out for anybody but themselves. On the upper end it is stealing as much as they can from government and on the lower end it is stealing as much as they can from government.

The Compaqxp DUmmie (like all DUmmies) thinks of nothing but how policies are going to impact him, and him alone. DUmmies cannot reason and get to the point of figuring out the unintended consequences. They are like children whose growth is stunted at age 5. It's all about me, me, me. As long as he can get into his Jetta whatever and drive for cheap, who cares about the rest of us? He would reason that the high cost of groceries, goods and services is all about the evil rich people trying to take advantage of the poor.
-
But,...but DUmmies. You say you embrace socialism. This is your socialism. Cap & Trade will be your other form of socialism. HELLCARE is another form of socialism. Why are complaining? You want it and yet you still bitch and moan. Are you people that empty headed? Get out and look around. Get your head out of the sand. Do your OWN research and see what the Obozo is doing to us. I included a link for you lazy DUmmies. It's about the drilling in the Gulf.

Well, yeah, but like the other DUmmies, he's too stupid to realize they actually WILL affect his life. It's kinda like how they bitch and bitch about corporations paying more and more taxes, then turn around and bitch when said corporations have to increase the costs of their goods to cover the additional costs of production due to increasing taxation.

Exactly to the parts in red. Well said.

Always wanted to drive one of those open pit mining rock trucks... 700+ tons loaded and over 3,000 horse power....run over a Prius and make it look like a flattened beer can.... :lmao:
You might not want to read this...gonna sound racist.
35 years ago they were building I-77 near here and I worked on it for a little while. Company was running some 641B-C scrapers hauling dirt and A$$ across a major road. Scrapers wieghed about 100 to 120 tons loaded. Big black fellow in a new Benz ignored the flagman and went right on by. One of the boys caught the Benz right behind the front seat with his right front tire. Stopped the new Benz dead in its track and smashed the back half flat. The black fellow wasn't hurt much but we got a big laugh out of the incident....you see, when the Benz stopped instantly, the black fellow had kissed the windshield leaving a perfect print of his wide nose and big thick lips.....

You're husband is alright in my book. :cheersmate: I already have a Camaro, that I don't drive and I have my 4x4 Dodge Ram as my daily driver. Both well over 300 horsepower each.
(I want to build a '69 Camaro pro-touring beast. If I don't do a '69 Camaro, it will be a '70 Chevelle pro-tour beast. "Hopefully", I can keep the Camaro I have now and still "afford" to do my build. :( The pro-tour build will be at least 600 horses and gobs of torque. :-))

This Trans Am will be a car that sits in the garage and is hardly ever driven, and probably never driven by me. :whistling:
I really do love classic cars. If money and space weren't an issue, I would love to get an old Rambler. I have had two Olds Cutlasses in my life and I loved both of those cars.

Not really.
What happens when your energy rates "necessarily" skyrocket?

I saw a couple Ramblers on sale around here. It's relatively dry in the south but I bet the interiors are shot.

My last truck was a 1959 Chevrolet Apache. I swapped the drums on the front for disc brakes but I had to sell it in 2001 because I ended up moving back to Nashville and couldn't pay the freight to get it shipped back here.
I miss it. :(
There was a WWII-era Chevy pickup in the neighborhood that I would see a few times a month. It had been re-painted in olive drab (probably from a spray can) but it sure was pretty.

Mine was cobalt blue. And it wasn't lowered and gay like that one (didn't have the sun visor either).

I bought a '77 Cutlass right after I got out of the Navy. Took over the payments from a cousin who was having his license revoked after one too many DUIs, so it was a good deal. Man, that was a sweet ride. Power everything and so comfortable and roomy. You couldn't wear out an Oldsmobile, you could just get tired of them. :-)
-
I had a 1972 and a 1974 - both powerful cars. But I was a teenage girl when I had them and didn't know what a powerful car was. Stupid girls.

Very cool. If I have the money to build the pro-tour Camaro/Chevelle, it would sit and go to shows and the occasional auto-x show. The suspension alone is about 12k. That includes all new sub frame and rear suspension with coil overs. All top-notch.
(The car would look like these. My friend Todd's car, on the right, but without the stickers on the side. He was promoting them at the auto-x and the stickers are just peel-offs.) :-) :cheersmate:

It's $3.60 for plus in NY and rising. I have a Civic, drive very little, but the pain is still the pain.
Son of a bitch and his gulf drilling moratorium--AND defying a federal judicial order to END the moratorium.

You know, I'd say the average auto gas/fuel tank in America is half full at any given time. If this were a republican administration in office right now, I bet the liberal MSM would announce an impending fuel shortage, causing everyone to rush out and fill up every car/truck/tractor/tank in the country. This would create a shortage overnight where one didn't really exist and cause the price to skyrocket.......and then blame it all on Bush and the oil companies..... :-)

Sweeeeeet! I love those old Camaros and Corvairs. I love watching those Mecum auto auctions they show on TV.
