Get ready for more pain.. Gas going back to $5 a gallon
Financial speculation is back BIG TIME in the oil market.
The Wall Street Journal on Dec 20th reports that hedge funds and money managers are again using oil as speculation. October 2008 saw gasoline go to $5 a gallon on $145 a barrel oil, and we are headed back to that point.
If you pay $5 a gallon at the pump..you pay $1 to Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley for speculation.
This is a 16% increase in oil in the last 6 months.

What? Wait a minute. When Bush was President, it was the evil oil companies that were responsible, now it's Wall Street?

2. You sure you don't mean $4. Did gas get to $5 in the US?

Never topped $4/gal when I filled the car.

7. I believe it topped out at about $4.80+ here in northern california...
...and it is currently between $3.45 and $3.55 most places on the North Coast, while elsewhere in the country folks gnash their teeth as gasoline approaches $3.00 a gallon. We haven't seen prices that low since last summer.
How much of that went to the state? More than went to the oil companies.

34. tthey were testing us
When the gas prices kept going up towards $5 a gallon, they were testing us to see how high they could raise the price before consumption would drop.
Bastards.
Now that they have a willing accomplice in the White Mosque, they feel free to raise it to $5/gal.

Where did this DUmmy come from? They've posted a barrel full of stupid in half a day already.

I remember when gas went to around $4.00/gallon. I was standing at a pump and a man across from me starting talking to me. He was saying something along the lines of how the Bush administration was putting the screws to us. I said it was odd considering the Democrats had taken over the house that he would blame Bush.
It was one of my only bouncy stories.
He didn't want to talk anymore.

I want to know why none of this stuff ever happens to me. I want to be the subject of a bouncy on the DUmp. :(

Good thing your lord zero Oboz put the 7 year moratorium on the drilling in the Gulf, huh?! Why don't you ask the lord zero why prices are up?
Why is it SO IMPORTANT for the moratorium, while other nations continue to drill in the same waters?! :hammer: OH,...I know why. The same reason that the DUmpkies love their socialism, to spread the wealth around. Still like your socialism DUmmies? You wanted it, you got it. :bird:

In 2008, gas was around $4.60-$4.80 a gallon in Las Vegas... for premium. My cheap stuff was about $4.20/gallon. Our gas is right around $3.05/gallon for the cheap stuff as of right now. I pay $3.30-$3.40/gallon, both of our cars require premium.
Thankfully I do not have to drive very much at the moment. I haven't filled up my gas tank for about three weeks now.

No real person has ever been the subject of a DUmp bouncy.

No real person has ever been the subject of a DUmp bouncy.
But we still try to be.
Just eavesdrop at your local grocery store and hope it's some liberal.... and then say something so offensive that they run home and post about it on the DUmp.

Opec alone could fix this problem with more oil. They on the otherhand like those trips to the casinos in Europe where they can go and be as bad as they want to be. On the otherhand the Dems have bad plenty of time since they took over Congress to find ways to lower the prices on gasoline by reducing the taxes on the price per gallon but they woul rather raise those taxes and get the revenue then help anyone living on Main Street.

So, I was gassin' up my carbon corruptin' F350 Doollie today at Babe's Quick Stop when a roller skate with a gas tank pulled up in the next aisle. An Alan Colmbes look-a-like gets out and flips on the pump and stuffs the nozzle into his little wreck. I glanced over and noticed he had a Kalifornicatin' license plate holder on his little yellow "bug".
He started rantin' as to how ever since Bush and Cheney got into bed with BlackWater and Big Oil he was gettin' screwed! I asked him what he was bitchin' about since diesel is a full 25¢/gallon more than his cheap shit gas?
He looked over at 'Bessy the Beast" and asked me if I had any idea how harmful I was bein' to mother earth drivin' such a truck. I looked at 'im like he was just about the biggest idiot I had ever met, since I had the lumber rack on and it was loaded with 45 2x6's and asked if he would like to hall them on his roof rack?
He ran his mouth the hole time he was fillin' up his tonka toy, which took all of 12 gallons, and prepared to leave.
As I'd had just about enough of his whinin', and I was still 40 gallons away from fillin' my second tank, I fished my license to kill "DUmbass Californians" outa my wallet, flashed it so he could see it, and dropped him right where he stood with the 'ol .45 ACP! On the way out I drove over his toy enough times so it blended in with the pavement!
Stoopid Kalifornicators need to go back home! It'd be better for their health!

This was a very strange encounter. I've had a few people make odd remarks and most of the time I let it slide. Sometimes I make some kind of reply but ... this dude just pissed me off. The Democrats had just taken the house in November and the gas prices started shooting up around March or so and continued to climb well into the summer. This was at about the height of the prices and this dude just popped off and hit me wrong.

What do they think a .50 cent per gallon consuption tax will do. From my recolection, were not DEMOCRAT politicians pushing for a gas tax? The purpose to change behavior of the public by either decreasing driving or purchasing a high mileage roller skate?
-
The communist president put the moratorium on and the price of oil went up 10%, coincidence?
I think not.
-
Bush removed the federal restrictions on drilling off shore and the price dropped to below $2 around here.....Obama bans drilling off shore and the prices begin to rise to over $3 around here.....DAMN BUSH and BIG OIL... :whatever:

12. GOOD!!
Does it suck? Yup. Is it going to hurt people? Yup! And I'm sorry for that to a certain extent. But there are electric or hybrid cars coming out next year and $5 gas will not only give them a boost, but prompt auto makers to make more of them. Things don't change unless there's a significant amount of pain, but the long-term problems with gas and oil don't cause pain now, so this is what's needed.
Maybe a little more speculator-caused pain will help us rethink the whole wall street idea too.

14. Oh, it more than hurts people. Many will have to make the choice between
keeping warm or eating. I'm sure you're sorry for that but since it likely will not impact your life to that extent then your sorrow doesn't mean much, does it? It's easy to call for others to suffer such pain when you won't have to face it.
Kind of hate it though when someone suggests you should pay more don`t you?
Just remember that the next time you wail on about taxing the rich.

There aren't any more coming out until next year? :wtf2:

Yeah, what?
I can go over to Nissan and go buy a gay Leaf right now if I want. And if I don't want a Nissan, I'll go across the street and buy a Chevy Volt.

Mindlesswalker_i misses a lot of points. Most glaring one is:
Products are not delivered to stores by hybrid or electric trucks. Those use diesel, and if diesel cost more, GUESS WHAT?
Everything on that truck costs more, because that's how the evil trucking companies PAY for the diesel fuel to run their trucks.
It doesn't matter if you shop at Target, or Walmart, or Kosco, or the Quicky Jiffy Lube on the corner. Everything will cost more, because the energy to get the stuff to the store will cost more.
THEN, the store will have to charge more, because not only did the freight cost more, because the fuel cost more, but now the electricity to run the store's lights, registers, coolers, heaters, etc., will also cost more.
BUT, the factories that manufacture the products will have to charge more to begin with, because the energy to run the factory will cost more, adding an additional cost to the end product as it leaves the plant.
SO, if you increase energy costs, you increase the cost of making, moving, storing, and selling a product.
That doesn't even account for the added expense TO YOU to drive your whateverthe****itis vehicle whereeverthehellitisyougo to whateverthehellitis store you like to frequent.
Just like the typical DUmbass, he can't see the forest for the trees, but he doesn't care, he likes the trees.

Not to play the very basic economic's 101 professor or anything, but wouldn't that decrease the demand for oil, increasing the supply, in turn lowering the price of oil again?
Hey, go ahead, DUmbshits, buy your little golf carts. I like inexpensive gas for my Z-71.

Great point Diesel. See, DUmmies have ZERO economic/common sense, so they will never understand. And then they bitch that prices are high.
Again DUmmies, why did your lord zero, Obozo, put the 7 year moratorium on offshore drilling? Why is that DUmmies? Other Countries are drilling down there.
