Poster ignores the year of death correction, even after he's told otherwise (CalPeg is there as well):

We put our signs on the fence.
Got some foam core board in Houston (we don't have bookstores or art supply stores here in Redneckistan) and got artistic.
Painted two posters.

One has the sun on the left and the earth on the right, witht the angle of 23 degrees marked.
In the middle it says AXIAL TILT IT'S THE REASON FOR THE SEASON

The other one has a portrait of Isaac Newton on it which I painted from a famous portrait of him when he was fairly young.
It also has the title page of Principia Mathematica and a couple of the formulas for the laws of motion.
At the Bottom it says "Isaac Newton, Dec. 25, 1642 - March 20, 1746"

Here in very conservative east texas I assume those will baffle the natives. Hope we don't get firebombed.

We have low voltage lights on them at night.

Oh, that'll show them.

You live there too, asshole.

Wow...you showed those religious nuts by putting a picture of a man who, while holding some radical views of Christianity, did consider himself to be a monotheist. Newton reiterated in writings, on many occasions, that he believed the universe to be divinly inspired and that all in it was under God's watch. Was he a Christian in the traditional sense, no, but he did not thumb his nose at God either and wrote volumes on religion and God--something as was a practice, it seems, for the scientifically inclined back then--they delved beyond the mechanics to consider the creator behind the mechanics. So many scientific minds back when seemed intent on proving the existence of God through science, not disproving it. Newton was so amazed at the design of what he uncovered that it reassured him that it had a designer, not the other way around.

Quote
Although the laws of motion and universal gravitation became Newton's best-known discoveries, he warned against using them to view the Universe as a mere machine, as if akin to a great clock. He said, "Gravity explains the motions of the planets, but it cannot explain who set the planets in motion. God governs all things and knows all that is or can be done."

From the thread, I bring over a little story from tavalon, just because:

13. I hope you don't as well
I have an interesting story from the fall of 2001. I was living in Austin, TX, not more than 5 miles from where Molly Ivins lived but my story isn't about the wonderfulness of that liberal bastion in the middle of a red, red state. I was watching the growing nationalism and jingoism after the Twin Towers attack with growing horror. While it seemed that everyone around me was placing American flags damn near everywhere and in mass quantity (I mean, really, do you need 6 flags flying on your car?), I decided that maybe we should be thinking a little bigger. I put up a world flag in my front yard. My house was egged.

  Hope they were rotten ones.

Is this the moonbat's way of defending the Cult of AlGore by saying that the frigid weather in winter is due to natural conditions but the warm weather in summer is due to AGW?

Gosh, they really are the smarterest people on the internets.

If I were to see either one of those, I'd just figure it was someone saying that the relationship of the sun and earth is why we have winter and he has making some tribute to Newton.  I certainly wouldn't take away from my precious time to try and figure out if the fool was trying to make some political statement, though I might wonder why he didn't use his time more wisely to help feed the poor rather than designing posters.

Oh my Lord.  Come on.  No bookstores or art supply stores in the 4th largest city in the United States?  Does it really expect anyone to believe that?  I go to Houston several times a year (although I hate it).  I've even gone to some Broadway plays there.  I'm willing to bet if you can't find it in Houston then you don't need it.

 :bs:

East Texas is the only realy blue part of the state.  Between Harris and Travis counties and part of the RGV.  Your side of Texas is the one that keeps on sending Sheila Jackson Moonbat to Congress.

Austin used to have a Lesbian Sheriff.

Don't try to tell me that the Houston Area is conservative.

I vote for bouncy status for this one.

NEWSFLASH! Ever here the expression, "Don't Mess With Texas", stupid? They're are pretty much republican/conservative there. They take no crap. I know some of them from other forums that I go to, and they don't like your types. :-)

MoL has to be a renaming, nobody who's that big a tool could have gotten to 1000+ (At least absent a very large, ummm, 'Donation') without pegging the Stupidmeter before.

I noticed that earlier & pointed out some similarities between it and the infamous Bouncy Ball.
