The rich got their tax cuts, now they will start hiring big time. Not because
tax cuts work but because the rich are greedy bastards. They did hold our economy hostage. Now the ransom has been paid. There will be a "boom" for a while.....then another "bust". Pay off your debts and save what you can. The next bump might be worse than the last. If the middle and lower classes rise up, maybe we can change things. Oh, well.

They won't, except for modest numbers. A two year extension in the current levels wasn't much.

2. The major corps have been sitting on over a trillion dollars for
no good reason. They have been champing at the bit but, imo, they held off until the tax cuts were extended. The endgame is to defund all government regulation. Will they succeed? Who knows?
Those companies should have been hiring to increase production to meet the demand of those on welfare and the extended unemployment benefits. Those are the real spur to the economy.

This is the same thing that happened in 2004 when all those greedy Corps were waiting on the Bush Tax Cuts to open up that loop hole. Then as in now - all the money was invested in China
That was part of the plan under Obama's stimulus plan. Most of the "green economy" benefits foreign corporations.

So, the corporations held the economy "hostage"? It had nothing to do with people buying homes they couldn't afford? It had nothing to do with the money the Obozo was spending? ::) ::)

Now- that is pretty stupid of the Dumpmonkiez. If they were thinking it through they would be sure the evil coperations will keep unemployment high until after the 2012 election, ensuring a Republican win in the Senate and Presidency.
BUT- DUmpmonkiez are stupid and rarely see past their own nose.

One thing the DUmpmonkeys keep forgetting--the ONLY reason the unemployment numbers have been as LOW as they are is because the BLS doesn't count "discouraged" workers, those who have simply given up looking for work. It also doesn't consider UNDER-employment.
If there are any signs of the job market improving, look for a large influx of people back into the job seeking market, which will INCREASE, not decrease, unemployment until those people actually FIND work. There have been examples of this earlier in the year, when the number of jobs stayed relatively constant, but because people came back to seeking jobs, unemployment went up to something like 9.8 percent.

Again, none of them are in the job market or ever will be, so their effect on the unemployment rate is non-existent.

Yep, Not only are our taxes currently among the highest, they are also the most insane. You can't make any long term plans without accounting for taxes and the government isn't setting anything that looks like a reasonable policy where taxes are predictable.

And that is precisely why the unemployment rate will not go lower. Sure, "some economists are predicting employment to improve." But the accounting departments of corporations that have been shading this way will tell them, "Uh, we just may have to lay those people off in a couple of years, when tax rates go back up." And employment rates will stay flat.

With the EPA dictating new taxes for our basic energy needs, I see nothing but more job loss. Of course, somehow even though we have more people seeking employment (new job seekers-retirees) every month and we have lost over 14 million+ jobs under Pelosi/Reid/Obama's reign of incompetence, the unemployment rate remains steady. I'm sure that the government is telling us the truth.
Until the communist in the white house is removed there will be no real change in unemployment, our fiscal disaster will continue at 1.3 trillion dollars per year and capital will be building power plants, factories, and jobs somewhere other than in the USA.

Didn't Bobo claim that for every $1.00 that is paid in unemployment $1.74 goes into the economy? If so, I would think that a drop in unemployment would hurt the economy. Since the rich are "greedy bastards" wouldn't they want to keep the unemployment perpetual motion machine going and pumping out money?

If Nazi Pelosi says that the unemployment checks will help the economy, then we'd be nearing out of this recession then, wouldn't we? She says that for every dollar, about a dollar and a half to two dollars goes into the economy. Well, unemployment has been high for over 2 years now and the economy is still in the crapper. So, Pelosi, next time you want to lie to the American people, try making it believable you bitch.

The clock starts to tick on that two year band-aid in less than a week, and in a mere 18 months or so its expiration will be so close that its demise will already have to be cranked into financial planning. 18 months of bankable reliability on those rates is not sufficient for any business to regard it as a sound basis to take on new permanent employees, the limit to which most of them could exploit the mere continuation of current tax rates would be to hire some temps.
