I miss "promote the general welfare."

Hey DUmmy promote the general welfare, does not mean handing out welfare checks.
It means that the govt needs to maintain an environment where people can pursue their happiness.
Nothing in the constitution guarantees financing for our lives. The founding fathers expected people to take care of themselves and help out the less fortunate in their local communities when they are able too.
This whole notion that govt needs to hand you every thing on a silver platter is childish and insane.

1. I miss people having even a passing awareness of its contents. (nt)
I do too. Every time Pelosi or Reid flap their gums I wish they would actually read the constitution that they swore to uphold.

"the right of the people to" buy Smith and Wesson snubby .38s over the counter at Ace Hardware and keep 'em in coat pockets whilst visiting the bank or the courthouse "shall not be infringed."

The actual free exercise of religion, unconstrained by the IRS, the court system, the Federal Reserve, the school system...and it's companion, free speech.

They don't get it. They never will. The Constitution gives us the freedom to be free. Freedom does NOT guarantee financial sucess. Success is measured by the individual. For some it is financial. For some it is Religious. For some it is being able to be secure in your home without fear of some goons knocking at your door at 3am and taking you away like they did my Christian anti-Hitler Grand-Uncle and Aunt in Frankfort am Main in 1939 because they had the audacity to think for themselves.
I am an Oath Keeper. And a Marine.
I do hereby solemly swear that I will defy any order that may deny the American people their rights, as set forth by the United States Constitutiton. If anyone, domestic or foreign, infringes on these rights, I will fire on them in defense of the people of the United States of America.
So Help Me God
DUmmies have no concept what it is to really be deprived of their rights.

DUmmies miss things in the Constitution that were never there.

I miss the commonsense that the founding fathers falsely assumed Americans had and would keep.

They were pretty clear on the need for a moral peoples that valued freedom above everything else...not gubmint handouts and safety nets. :thatsright:

I miss "promote the general welfare."
1. it's "promote" not provide which means you have to provide your own welfare.
2. it's "general" not personal so you're still responsible for yourself
3. the clause before it does say "provide for the common defense" so stop telling us to cut defense spending to pay for your free ponies.
4. your vague paeans to the Constitution aren't fooling anyone. Liberals hate America and have no chance of stealing the patriotism badge from the Tea Party
5. the passage you cite is in the preamble, not the Bill of rights

Didn't lord zero tell the American people during his "world tour", that there would be 100% transparency?! ::)
Lies, lies and more lies.
