Why did the founding father's not rely on voluntary charity to fund national defense?
Why did they instead choose forced taxation or socialism to fund national defense?
Why is that?
This is just a rhetorical question aimed at any tea party lurkers. ;)
I know most of my fellow dems know the answer.
However, does anyone know if the founding father's experimented with other ways to fund national defense before they settled on taxation?

Yep I recall George Washington calling for a 99% tax on the rich for defense. :whatever:

1. Well, one things for certain, they didn't fund it with a tax on income.
For the 16th Amendment wasn't ratified until 1913.
I love it when another goon deflates the first goons argument. :-)

Yes, this is just a rhetorical question: Why does every DUmp DUmbass think a plural noun needs an apostrophe?? Are all DUmp DUmbasses semi-literate?
Have any DUmp DUmbasses gone through fifth grade English? Why can't DUmp DUmbasses save up their apostrophes to use with contractions and possessives? Those are all just rhetorical questions (not question's).

National defense is one of the things mandated by the Constitution so that means the founders considered it an obligation of government...I can`t quibble with that.
They did not mandate any kind of social safety net so anything taken up regarding that should be at the discretion of those who have to fund it.
It really is pretty simple to figure out.

It is funny things like national defense which is not only granted but, required by the federal govt is the only time you hear them whine about spending. Every other program that was not a constitutional duty if you even think of reducing by one dime and they go nuts.
