Liberals to take last stab at estate tax rate before Thursday vote Updated at 11:00 AM

The House will vote on President Obama’s tax proposal Thursday after first giving liberal Democrats one last chance to force a change to the Senate-passed agreement.
The key question is whether the House will send the bill back to the Senate or to the White House for the president’s signature.
Under procedures approved by the House Rules Committee on Wednesday evening, the House will vote first on a proposed change to the estate tax provision of the deal Obama reached with Republicans.
The change, offered by Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-N.D.), would renew the 2009 inheritance tax at 45 percent for individuals with estates worth more than $3.5 million, a level identical to the rate passed by the House last year. The bill passed by the Senate on Wednesday sets the estate tax at 35 percent for individuals with an exemption beginning at $5 million.

What is it with the ****ing dems? they seem to think all the money belongs to them. They can't wait to force people to sell off the family farm or family business. Hoyer had the nerve to say that only 35% is a give away meanwhile he wants to take that money and give it away to the govt.
Only to a democrat can not being taxed to death considered a give away. :banghead:

I wish they'd do it. Then the Republicans will have a reason to filibuster per the letter, and then none of the other crap (DADT, DREAM, the huge spending bill with Obamacare pre-funded) gets voted on.

You know what? How about some strategic voting. The House Republicans HELP the House Dems make this tax deal worthless--help them screw it up as much as possible. Or at least some of them, with a wink and a nudge nudge. Then McConnell and his crew have to filibuster. Then nothing else gets done, which is what we want.

I also recommend calling your leftist congressman to voice your disappointment in the tax breaks for the rich and the estate tax. Tell them you would have voted for the republican if you knew this would happen.
My last call the staffer was just as demoralized as I tried to be. It was beautiful.

Not happening now. But since there's no damn Social Security Trust Fund anyway--that's been a fiction for years--I'd like to see that 2% payroll tax cut made permanent. It is, in essence, a step toward partial privatization.
This is not my idea at all--I heard Mark Levin suggest it--but House Republicans should also push next year to lower, not tax rates across the board (although that would be best), but the two middle brackets, 28% and 25%. That'd take the whole middle-class tax cut issue away from the Dems and their garbagte about Republicans championing tax cuts for the "rich," which is just a Big Lie, as we all know. Then, after Dems are routed in 2012, Republicans push to lower the other brackets.
