doesn't hurt poor people"

"Hello_Kitty" herself here is wrong on the facts, bet the poor woman wishes the OP had just stuck to perusing the prepared salads:
I had to explain to a woman in the grocery store that the estate tax doesn't hurt poor people
Edited on Tue Dec-14-10 10:39 PM by Hello_Kitty
I walked over to the store to pick up a few items for dinner and while I was perusing the prepared salads in the deli section a couple standing nearby spotted my C-SPAN canvas tote (yes I'm a dork). We got into a brief discussion about politics and I learned that the woman had volunteered for the Arizona Republicans in the last election. She said she really liked John McCain but was mad at him because he had promised her a job but here she was, still unemployed, after having done all that volunteering for him and the Republicans. It was obvious from some of the other subjects we discussed that I was dealing with a fairly low information voter, despite her recent political activity. She asked me if I thought the tax bill was going to pass and I said it probably would.
She was most upset about the estate tax. First off, she thought the rate was being raised to 55%. But then she said something that made my jaw drop. "Why do they have to go after dead people's estates? Why can't they go after RICH people?" I reassured her that the estate tax being reinstated did, in fact, affect rich people and only rich people. She looked genuinely surprised at this. "I was told it went after poor people's money."
Wonder who told her that.

I know a few old farms in Kansas that don't have a pot to piss in, where their land is worth over 5 mil. Guess what happens, dipshit, if they leave it to their kids?
****in' idiot DUmmie! It's not just cash, ya ****in' moron! It's the, wait for it, assets from the estate!
Please, please, please, will one of you pukes bring up this argument in my presence!
ETA:
Besides that ya ****in' leaches, they have already paid taxes on what they have earned! How many times do we have to pay taxes on our earnings??????????????????????????????????????
Of course none of you primitive SOB's understand that, as you do your damnedest to live off of other peoples money!
Get a ****in' job! Leave my money alone! If you want to donate your hard earned assests to the gubmint, feel free to do so! There is absolutely nothin' stoppin' you!

24. Why does everyone have to learn shit at a grocery store?
Doesn't anybody talk at the tire shop anymore?
I agree with DUmmy snooper2. Tire shop bouncies would have a more authentic feel.
Everyone has to buy tires, but we low information voters never shop at Whole Foods or Fresh Market with the DUmmies. Be that as it may, DUmmies insist on claiming their bouncy tales take place at the grocery store.

Damn! Bouncy's have sure gone down hill! Not even the DUmmies believe 'em any more!

Uh, the election was a month ago and most of those republicans haven't been sworn into office yet? This misfit's bouncy writing is severely lacking.

29. I got the sense she was very religious.
Like she read all the New Testament stuff about Jesus caring for the poor and took it to heart. My theory is she thinks the GOP is the Christian party. So she goes to volunteer for them and they push propaganda that paints Democrats as Hollywood/New York wealthy elitists who want to steal money from hard working poor regular people and hand it to gay atheist illegal immigrant abortionists.
Absolutely right, once I fixed it for you.

Hmmm...how much is a million, DUmmies?
A decent house, a life insurance policy, and a semi-decent 401(k). Those alone will put you into the million dollar range quite easily.
This is the level at which you want to tax 55 percent.

And some days are not worth chewing through the straps. Dummys have no concept of up and down let alone matters of finance or economics. Those concepts are as alien as a space ship from Uranus full of Klingons . :hammer:
Darn it is chilly out there today, pull up a few more rods, I may have to goose the electric heater. :rotf:

it's like this.
I have a part of a family ranch in western Nebraska. The land, improvements, and building on itare estimated at about 1.2 million. Add to that my savings and household stuff I have accumulated over time and I am worth about 2 million. Do you know how much liquid assets I have? Not that much.
I lease out the land for what the land taxes are, and every year they go up. Doesn't matter if the cattle prices go up or go down. If the hay crap is good or bad. Taxes always go up. If I died tomorrow the kids would have to sell about half the land in order to settle just the death taxes.
this land has been in our family since 1887.

That's quite a legacy to be able to leave to your kids. You ought to be able to rest easy knowing they will inherit everything, without more taxes. After all, the welfare bums' kids usually go on to collect welfare after THEIR parents die.
My husband's sister and her husband own part of a large farm and dairy operation up in western Idaho. Same deal with the land value and no liquid assets to speak of.

ZERO BONG!
BTW, the estate tax was/is going up to 55%. The balls that the statist communists have in extorting over half of what a productive person has worked for all their life.
I got a email from Moron.Org (enemy surveillance) that urges me to cal my congress-commie and urge the bitch to stop the estate tax from going up only 35%. They think that even 55% is to much using Representative Tiny Weiner's point of unearned income. It also states that the average net worth of blacks in the USA is only $5000. This got me to thinking about what a success the donks have engineered for the black community. Which inevitably lead to Reagan's quote:
"What are the nine scariest words in the English language? I am from the government and here to help."
-
Really, since very little in the tax code, or most other annoying Federal laws for that matter, has any inflation escalators, one more Jimmy Carter and her comic book collection would be over the $5 million dollar threshold. This is why the AMT, designed to affect only 150 or so filers, is a looming issue for 10% of the net taxpayers now, with the number going up each year.

Where the hell are these people shopping? I have been shopping at grocery stores for years and have never had a political conversation with a total stranger before.

All decent and civilized people would would have the same question. The DUmmies take their food stamps to Whole Foods and Fresh Market. They very rarely come into contact with normal people.

I go to Whole Foods on occasion. I have never ever ever ever had a conversation with anyone there. Except for the Wine guy.

We do most of our grocery shopping at WalMart. The place is literally over-run with democrats everywhere you look and I've never had a political discussion with anyone either.

Total bouncy.
Still, I'd like to run into one of these asses and ask them why the Gov is entitled to over 50% of my estate? (yes I know, they don't think about WHAT they consider rich, idjits.)
I'd like to hear a reasonable answer........................not like there is one.

I have even shopped at a few of the liberal type stores (they sometimes have stuff I can't find and the commissary) and have never had a total stranger come up and start yammaring about anything.

Never. Not at Walmart, not at Whole Foods. Hell, I am doing good to have someone say "Excuse me" when they bump into my cart.

So, I was in the grocery store the other day. I was in the deli section to get some turkey breast for lunches. I thought about getting one of those salads they have, but looked at the fat slob standing next to me with the cspan bag ordering the pasta salad and decided the extra calories just weren't worth it. I saw the roast beef was on sale so I decided to get a pound of that too. As I was thanking the deli clerk I mentioned what a good price the roast beef was. I started to walk away. Then the fat pasta salad lady grabbed my arm and said food prices wouldn't be so high if it wasn't for rich people and I shouldn't be eating dead animal carcass anyway. She looked rather unstable and angry (I thought the slightest little thing would set her off) so I just said "okay, thanks" and walked away. I have no idea why anyone would want to talk economics standing at a deli counter. The most I've ever done is commented on different meats or cheeses, the price or the slowness of the clerks. I thought about going back and slapping her for injecting her stupid opinions where they didn't belong but a cop jumped out from behind the self-serve soup counter (there weren't any bushes) to order a sandwich with his chili and I figured it wouldn't be a good idea.

Oh dear this won't do at all. Maybe we can get a good stiff on shore breeze to tilt those windmills. Yeah there's the ticket. We need a good stiff blow to bend on the air power.......... :-)
Anyone keeping tabs on the price on #2 dyed Heating Oil ( aka diesel ) ? I am on an auto delivery plan and have been so since forever so I don't get the floating price.
Never mind I got another browser open ... $2.69-2.79.
Gas $2.89-3.04
Diesel $3.19-3.32
ouch.
Gotta scoot, the Skittle shittin' Unicorn Obie sent rather than a COLA is in the neighbor's yard again. :rotf:

Cindie, too funny! :lmao: :rotf: H5. The jumping cop was a nice touch, and you included the So. Should have used quotation marks to indicate the verbatim conservation, though. :lmao:

Insurance proceeds are nontaxable and as such not part of estate calculations. Also any encumberances against land, buildings and equipment are deducted from market value before the death tax is calculated. That being what it is many small businesses invarably end up being liquidated so as to get the proceeds to pay the death taxes

Rush brought up the fact that when the owner of the Baltimore Orioles died, his kids had to sell the team in order to pay the tax! It's not just "small" business!

I gave you one as well, Cindie. The cop touch was particularly well thought out.
Whatever else our moles are up to on DUmmie Island, they can't be engaging in many bouncy tales. Our folks write much better ones, even in sarcastic mode.
