Senate Democrats have filed a $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill that would fund the government through fiscal year 2011, according to Senate GOP sources.
The 1,924-page bill includes funding to implement the sweeping healthcare reform bill Congress passed earlier this year as well as additional funds for Internal Revenue Service agents, according to a senior GOP aide familiar with the legislation.

If SENATE Republicans are serious about defunding/gutting Obamacare--and they all did vote against Obamacare itself--they HAVE to try to filibuster this thing. Allowing this thing through without a fight is NOT going to endear them to so many people had repeal as a top priority.
Tying this up would also be a great way of roadblocking NIGHTMARE and DADT-repeal.

If the Republicans had any leadership they would stay in DC over Christmas and filibuster until January 5th. What a bunch cowards. And how incredulous that Nevadans reelected this POS Reid.

Zero, Miss Piggy and Dingy Harry are the worst traitors of our lifetime while the GOP leadership in the lame duck session has been shameful and business as usual. New leadership is desperately needed. Boehner and McConnell need to be sent packing but I somehow doubt it will happen. Its no coincidence this porker of a bill should come out during the holiday season when everyone is distracted with other activities. God bless Jim DeMint.

Even though it was championed by Democrats, the Omnibus is filled with earmarks for both parties - yes, you read that correctly.
If you would like to see the all the earmarks involved in this bill, here is a set of handy links to get you to all the information you could ever want about the budget:

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) will force readings of both a nuclear arms treaty and $1.1 trillion spending bill that could eat up hours of the remaining lame-duck Congress.
DeMint will invoke a senatorial privilege to ask that texts of both the New START Treaty and the 2011 omnibus spending bill be read aloud on the Senate floor.
The readings could take seven to 12 hours to verbalize the START Treaty, while the omnibus could take 40 to 60 hours, according to a spokesman for DeMint.

I'd put my money on DeMint sticking to his guns. I'll bet you can expect LOTS if interruptions, too, along the lines of "excuse me, that didn't come out clearly, could you repeat that please?" South Carolina should be proud. The last NY Senator to be proud of was Al D'Amato, and even he wasn't anywhere near DeMint's stature, or in his class when it comes to plain old sand.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) offers 1-page resolution in place of Omnibus bill that would "simply continue the government through February 18th."
"I would hope that it would make sense on a bipartisan basis, this one-page continuing resolution on Feb 18th as an alternative to this 2,000-page monstrosity that spends a half a billion dollars a page," McConnell said on the Senate floor.

Tonight may indeed may be a “seminal moment,†as McCain said. This was to be the appropriators’ last hurrah. In the end, they couldn’t see it through, and it’s not going to get any better for them next year.
Why did it go down? You had Jim DeMint rallying outside opposition, and pushing Reid’s back against the wall procedurally with the threat to have the whole monstrosity read on the floor; that was time Reid presumably couldn’t afford to waste given everything else he wants to jam through. >>>
This is great news. But its obvious now, we are literally going to have to fight for every square inch of ground against the old guard until they are gone (Jan 11).

I have to wonder, though, if they threw this crap in inside of one week as a bargaining chip to push DADT repeal and the NIGHTMARE Act. Reid may have always known that he didn't have the votes for this shit (the omnibus). It looks like the sosn of bitches ARE going to get DADT repeal. For the love of Pete, gays shouldn't be in the military at all, period; DADT itself was a gift to them. I really, really, REALLY hate social experimentation with anything as vital as our military branches.
