Senate Democrats have filed a $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill that would fund the government through fiscal year 2011, according to Senate GOP sources.

The 1,924-page bill includes funding to implement the sweeping healthcare reform bill Congress passed earlier this year as well as additional funds for Internal Revenue Service agents, according to a senior GOP aide familiar with the legislation.

I can't even fathom spending money that fast.

If SENATE Republicans are serious about defunding/gutting Obamacare--and they all did vote against Obamacare itself--they HAVE to try to filibuster this thing. Allowing this thing through without a fight is NOT going to endear them to so many people had repeal as a top priority.

Tying this up would also be a great way of roadblocking NIGHTMARE and DADT-repeal.

If it passes, strip everyone of the "yes" voters of everything they own, give 'em a pup tent, a cheap sleeping bag and turn them out into the cold.

Enough is enough. Obviously the scrunts in Congress did not hear the people on November 2nd.

What part of "stop the spending" do they not understand? This is the final huge "flip-off" from the rejected leftists in congress.

O.K. we get it. You really don't like us voters who fired you. Mitch, Lamar, Boehner and "the leadership" better get this right or they too will get the boot.

The best (worst? most inane and useless?) one?

Gotta be that $165K for maple syrup research.  Because that's a pressing federal need, finding out what makes maple syrup do what it does.

This is exactly what we were talking about in November, idiots.  Too bad you were too busy throwing our money around to figure that out.

Forget about going quietly into the night. (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/dec/14/reid-threatens-keep-congress-next-year/)

Quote
Senate Democrats on Tuesday unveiled a broad agenda for an end-of-session sprint that, in other years, could be a whole year's worth of activity — ranging from an arms-reduction treaty with Russia to a major immigration bill to overturning the ban on gay troops.

And that's not to mention the nearly 2,000-page, $1.1 trillion massive spending bill Senate Democrats said they'll try to push through. The bill contains hundreds of pork-barrel spending projects and new rules governing everything from airport baggage to detainees at the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

"We're not through. Congress ends on Jan. 4," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat.

If the Republicans had any leadership they would stay in DC over Christmas and filibuster until January 5th. What a bunch cowards. And how incredulous that Nevadans reelected this POS Reid.

DeMint Pledges to ‘Expose’ and ‘Fight’ Omnibus Bill (http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/255332/demint-pledges-expose-and-fight-omnibus-bill-robert-costa)

Quote
“This 2,000-page bill is so packed with pork and objectionable legislative items it could take weeks until we know the policy implications, but Reid wants to ram it through in a few days,” Denton says. “This stampede of spending and bad policy is exactly what voters rejected in November. Senator DeMint will continue working with Republican colleagues to expose the bill’s waste and he’ll fight to stop the rush to pass it on the Senate floor.”

Why is it just DeMint and not everyone? We need a Congress full of Jim DeMints!

One of the things conveniently omitted from most of the articles I've read is a $10 MILLION grant for a John Murtha memorial. As if his airport to nowhere wasn't enough of a waste....

Zero, Miss Piggy and Dingy Harry are the worst traitors of our lifetime while the GOP leadership in the lame duck session has been shameful and business as usual. New leadership is desperately needed. Boehner and McConnell need to be sent packing but I somehow doubt it will happen. Its no coincidence this porker of a bill should come out during the holiday season when everyone is distracted with other activities. God bless Jim DeMint.

Even though it was championed by Democrats, the Omnibus is filled with earmarks for both parties - yes, you read that correctly.

If you would like to see the all the earmarks involved in this bill, here is a set of handy links to get you to all the information you could ever want about the budget:
Atlanta Journal Constitution (http://blogs.ajc.com/jamie-dupree-washington-insider/2010/12/15/the-omnibus-arrives/)

Click on the link for a list of senators and the number of earmarks they have placed in the bill.  The top two are Republicans but you have to go a long way down the list past a crowd of Democrats to find another one.

Interesting... Sure is going to put a crimp in Dingy Harry's plans to keep shoehorning his pet projects in if they lose 3 or 4 days (minimum) of an already minuscule time frame. Let's hope he doesn't chicken out.

And of course, the WH spokes-mouth is whining about it.

The Hill (http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/133723-demint-will-force-readings-of-start-treaty-and-omnibus-bill)

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) will force readings of both a nuclear arms treaty and $1.1 trillion spending bill that could eat up hours of the remaining lame-duck Congress.

DeMint will invoke a senatorial privilege to ask that texts of both the New START Treaty and the 2011 omnibus spending bill be read aloud on the Senate floor.

The readings could take seven to 12 hours to verbalize the START Treaty, while the omnibus could take 40 to 60 hours, according to a spokesman for DeMint.

I'll give credit to McCaskill, evil bitch that she is (D-MO) - zero earmarks.

Her compadre, Kit Bond (R-MO), retires from the Senate with something like 78 earmarks.

I'd put my money on DeMint sticking to his guns. I'll bet you can expect LOTS if interruptions, too, along the lines of "excuse me, that didn't come out clearly, could you repeat that please?" South Carolina should be proud. The last NY Senator to be proud of was Al D'Amato, and even he wasn't anywhere near DeMint's stature, or in his class when it comes to plain old sand.

Redistribution on steroids (http://www.semissourian.com/story/1687936.html)

Rep. Cleaver has proposed a $48 billion earmark.

Cleaver has listed a new earmark -- one of several -- and he promises to "fight for every one." But this is a whopping $48 billion package that must go down as the grandaddy of all earmarks. Just call this redistribution on steroids.

But wait, there's more.

The sole puzzling aspect of Cleaver's earmark is the price tag. Why not make it a cool $100 billion or perhaps more. If you truly believe that fairness involves this massive shift of money, then why mess with a paltry $48 billion. Wait. I forgot. This is just Phase One. Now I understand.

MORE (http://www.semissourian.com/story/1687936.html)

Note that nowhere in this article does it mention his political affiliation. Maybe its too hard to spell Democrat or to put a (D) after his name?

Guess its true ... socialism is grand ... until you run out of other peoples money to spend. So now were spending the earnings of the unborn. The childrens and grandchildrens and great grandchildrens money.Thats compassion? Thats Hope?

Oh.. hope to destroy this country ... I get it now.

Tax deal hits speed bump in House (http://www.politico.com/blogs/glennthrush/1210/Liberal_Dems_threaten_tax_bill.html)

House Democratic leaders hit a speed bump en route to passing President Barack Obama's tax deal Thursday amid rekindled liberal fury over giving breaks to the wealthiest Americans. >>>

It forced Democrats to pull the rule vote and move to restructure debate, Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.), a member of the Rules committee, said he expected the bill to proceed Thursday. >>>

Republicans are planning to vote against the rule, forcing Democrats to carry it alone.

GOP will paralyze Senate floor with reading of 1,924-page spending bill (http://GOP will paralyze Senate floor with reading of 1,924-page spending bill)

Republicans will paralyze the Senate floor for 50 hours by forcing clerks to read every single paragraph of the 1,924-page, $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill.

Senate clerks are expected to read the massive bill in rotating shifts around the clock — taking breaks to drink water and pop throat lozenges  â€” to keep legislative business on track, according to a Democratic leadership aide.

The bill is so long that it took the Government Printing Office two days to print it. >>>

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), the Senate Republican Steering Committee chairman, vowed not to back down.

I hope the first story saying DeMint was not going to do this was wrong. With RINOs like Richard Shelby supporting the latest porkulous bill, someone's got to pick up the slack. Cheers to Jim DeMint.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) offers 1-page resolution in place of Omnibus bill that would "simply continue the government through February 18th."

"I would hope that it would make sense on a bipartisan basis, this one-page continuing resolution on Feb 18th as an alternative to this 2,000-page monstrosity that spends a half a billion dollars a page," McConnell said on the Senate floor.

Tonight may indeed may be a “seminal moment,” as McCain said. This was to be the appropriators’ last hurrah. In the end, they couldn’t see it through, and it’s not going to get any better for them next year.

Why did it go down? You had Jim DeMint rallying outside opposition, and pushing Reid’s back against the wall procedurally with the threat to have the whole monstrosity read on the floor; that was time Reid presumably couldn’t afford to waste given everything else he wants to jam through. >>>

This is great news. But its obvious now, we are literally going to have to fight for every square inch of ground against the old guard until they are gone (Jan 11).

I have to wonder, though, if they threw this crap in inside of one week as a bargaining chip to push DADT repeal and the NIGHTMARE Act. Reid may have always known that he didn't have the votes for this shit (the omnibus). It looks like the sosn of bitches ARE going to get DADT repeal. For the love of Pete, gays shouldn't be in the military at all, period; DADT itself was a gift to them. I really, really, REALLY hate social experimentation with anything as vital as our military branches.
