Inga spent yesterday putting up the Christmas tree and decorating it with a short break to run out to JC Penney to buy a Christmas present for her mom. Today, she is hanging lights on the outside. It's a little on the chilly side here @ 39°F, but the sun is shining. :-)

Hubby and I have an agreement, I take care of the inside and he takes care of the outside, it works for us LOL, no way do I want to do the outside stuff.

I can't climb ladders, so, she gets to do the outside stuff.

Beautiful!!! Its so homey and inviting.
-
Is that a radiator in the living room, madam?
Those things are cool.
-
Thanks DixieBelle!
And yes frank we have radiators all through the house, we have covers for them and hubby decided to paint the covers today, we've been wanting to paint them for years, we painted all the other covers in the other rooms except for the living room, so we hauled them out to the garage today and went to Home Depot to pick up the paint. I'll take a pic when he puts the covers on. For some weird reason I'm liking them without the covers, and the room is large and it's much warmer in there today, I really think the covers stifle a lot of the heat.
-
i love my portable radiator heaters. I remember we had them in school, but they never seemed to do much good. Maybe they never turned them on, I don't know.
You may be right about the covers -- it certainly cuts down on air flow. Try pointing a fan at the radiator and see what happens.

I'll take a pic of the radiators before and after I put the covers on and you'll see how much heat get's trapped in there, I may tell hubby we should rethink the covers for them.

Cool.
I've always wanted to live in a place with radiators.
I did, when living in Allentown, Pennsylvania, but all the rest of my life thus far, I've only ever lived in places where the heat comes up from little long rectangular grates on the floors.

We've never had that type of heat at all, we've always had radiators, but we've always lived in older homes, the house we have now is close to 80 years old, the only thing it doesn't do is make noise and steam when the heat comes up, maybe it has to do with the previous owners installing a gas furnace as opposed to using an oil furnace?
-
If your radiators are not making noise, it's a good indication they were maintained properly (or at least recently).

Our Christmas Decorations this year.

Very nice Ballygrl. I noticed the Nativity. Nice touch.

Nothing says 'Christmas' like Busch novelty items. :-)
Like the Christmas Bears.

Thanks! we have 2, the larger set you saw is a newer 1, but we also have 1, a smaller Nativity scene that hubby's Parents bought for his 1st Christmas, it's almost 50 years old.
And OMG CG, I looooooooooove that fireplace.
-
Those photos Ballygrl are wonderful. I posted our fireplace pic. Your Nativity is it a Hummel set? Our fireplace is Quartz. That is all over the place around here. The mantle is from a mine.

I have no idea if the Nativity Set is a Hummel, hubby's Aunt won it at an auction and gave it to us since we'd use it and she probably wouldn't. I just love fireplaces, we have the little portable electric 1 you see in my pics, but I would love the type of fireplace you have in your pic, and the mantle is gorgeous.
-
Only 1 radiator cover has dried, so we just put that 1 on, the radiator cover is metal and it was an ivory color before, so we painted it Taupe, here it is without the cover:

And here it is with the newly painted cover, you see how closed in it is? I really think a lot of heat gets trapped:

Thank you Ballygrl. If you look on the bottom of one of those Nativity piece's if it is a hummel it will have a hummel mark. It sure looks like the one I have. It is from the 50's.

OK, I just checked both Nativity scenes, my have times changed, the almost 50 year old Nativity Scene says Made in Italy, and the newest Nativity Scene says Made in China, neither of them say Hummel.

Traditionally, most Nativity figurines were made in Italy; I'm not sure why, but I suspect it's because of the easy availability of the particular kind of clay used in making them.
Italian-made Nativity figurines used to be a dime a dozen, but not so any more.
Take care of those made-in-Italy things as if they're diamonds and rubies.

Definitely! the fact that my in-laws bought it almost 50 years ago to celebrate hubby's 1st Christmas means they're invaluable to us.

Thanks! Christmas is the time of year where no matter what people put up it's beautiful.
