Title: New York City YMCA Gives Santa the Boot

To quote Franksolich; "Oh my".

New York City YMCA Gives Santa the Boot

A politically correct West Village YMCA has fired Ol' St. Nick in favor of Frosty.

Kids who once thrilled at sitting on Santa's lap at the 14th Street McBurney YMCA's wildly popular annual holiday luncheon will now suffer the icy embrace of a talking snowman and his sidekick, an anonymous penguin, at today's event.

~snip~

YMCA officials, who say they are in the midst of "rebranding" the Young Men's Christian Association to "The Y," defended their decision.

New York City, land of the red diaper doper babies. I am not surprised by this.
Anything they can do to help eliminate Christmas, Christ or the Catholic church. What a bunch of jack wagons.

A chilly reception greeted the news that the YMCA -- an organization founded to spread Christian values in 1844 -- was replacing the Christmas icon with a secular cartoon character

Unreal!  :banghead:

Well, they've already gone on record as wanting to drop the "MCA" moniker. I guess they sense that Christianity and Young Men don't mix anymore.  :whatever:

It's just a sign of the 'progressive' times in their leadership. They want the money because IIRC they're still a charity, but it's still very much a business.

I dropped them when I found their mandatory money-collection policies for health club membership too odious for my taste.
