Howdy all.  I am a new member here and was wondering how to post an avatar.  I have gone to the profile section of the board and I don't see a way to add one.

I am a proud conservative American.

I am also a veteran of the 1st Gulf War and a bit of a fanatic about the 2nd Amendment.

Oh...  And I have my 1st grandchild due in about 2 months.   :cheersmate:

What is the deal with the "reputation" that I see next to each posters name?

I see that I am +6/-0.

It's the Hi-Five and the Bitch-Slap feature.  You like a post, you get to Hi-Five somebody.  If you don't like somebody's post, go ahead and click Bitch Slap.

Why do so many folks that post here seem to be so concerned about what is posted on DU?

Is it a matter of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer? 

Or is it a matter of making fun of mentally challanged?

Having read a few DU threads linked here...  How can those folks live their lives with such anger and hatred?
