Ted Turner: Adopt China's one-child policy to save planet
By Christian Boone
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Atlanta's most unguarded tongue is at it again, telling global leaders meeting in Mexico that the rest of the world should adopt China's one-child policy, according to a Toronto newspaper.
"If we’re going to be here (as a species) 5,000 years from now, we’re not going to do it with seven billion people," CNN founder Ted Turner said Sunday at a conference discussing the impact of demographic trends on the future of greenhouse gas emission.
If such a plan was adopted, the father of five said, poor people could profit from their decision not to reproduce by selling fertility rights.
China claims its policy has resulted in 400 million fewer births since 1979, limiting emissions growth even as the country becomes more industrialized. But critics argue the mandate has contributed to more abortions and high levels of female infanticide. ...........(more)

Yep the leftists once again show how pro "choice" they are.
They are only pro choice if they agree with the choice made.

7. all personal criticism of Turner aside, he is exactly right....
Garrett Hardin knew it in 1968: http://dieoff.org/page95.htm
Tell you what if you are so concerned about overpopulation put your money where your mouth is and become one less person exploiting the earth's resources.
This only helps make Glenn Beck's case about how progressives are.
-
If the mouth of the south is so concerned that overpopulation is going to kill the planet, I suggest he be the first to step off Terra Firma and lead by example. I'm for leaving him in a room with a gun and one bullet and telling to make it count.

This post is chock full of FAIL.
I see the mental disorder is showing through in this post something fierce. Talk about a dangerous people, you liberals/progressives are kooks. :mental:

It's also placed a high level of stress on the ability of families to take care of their parents. Unlike this country where way too many people abandon their parents in their old age, the Chinese still have a honor code that says the children will care for their parents in the final years. For that I give them a giant nod of respect; it's morally what they should be doing. Now you've got a husband and wife working to support themselves while having to see after both his parents and hers since there are no other kids to help out. Law of Unintended Consequences bites again.

Thanks for saying that. I've been in nursing homes. It made up my mind that my family won't go there unless I simply can no longer give the care needed. I don't think that attitude is going to be a hallmark of my generation.

Someone should provide a Kevorkian Depopulator Pill for every liberal

If we adopted the one child policy, Maury Povich would be out of a job.

China is really polluted. Also the one-child police only applied to majority ethnic Han people. Other ethnic groups were exempted in China, since they mostly in live western China.
-
Birth rates among whites are barely at replacement levels. The ones doing all the reproducing are blacks, hispanics, and Arabs. Why does Ted hate brown people so much?

There's another fallacy to the usual and standard primitive argument.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the birth-rate declined dramatically (I dunno the current figures, but probably it's still declining), and there was also much emigration of people running out of the place.
The way the primitives think:
less people using the same amount of resources = more resources per person
The way the real world works:
less people using the same amount of resources = less resources to distribute, and less resources per person.
Ukraine went from 62 million down to circa 55 million, and the more its population declined, the poorer everyone got.
The world isn't as simple as the primitives and population-controllists insist it is.

This from the guy with five kids. Got it, Ted. Thanks for speaking. Now go away.
-
Yes, to them, the world is one giant apple pie. Divvy it up and there you go. No further thought required, it's too hard and needs too much math and other analytical sciences.
-
China claims its policy has resulted in 400 million fewer births since 1979, limiting emissions growth even as the country becomes more industrialized.
This is like typical Democrat statistical doubletalk, what it really means is their emissions still grew out of control, they just assume it would have been worse with more people. While the assumption is probably correct, the phrasing leaves the unsophisticated or credulous reader with the false impression that China lowered its emissions rather than just slowed the rate of growth by some indeterminable percentage.

:-)
America would come back to a level sort of "normalcy" after that.

They would expect the gummint to pay for it. ::)

They would expect the gummint to pay for it. ::)
I wouldn't expect anything less from a liberal/DUmmie. :-)
-
It used to be common practice in China to kill the 1st born if it was a female, since they were deemed to be less productive than males. So does Turner also advocate this little gem of Chinese custom?
-
Is Ted Turner going to hold a lottery to see which of his five kids gets to survive?
-
I'm pretty sure two is my limit on number of kids, but I must admit to wanting to have a whole dozen kids when people say stupid shit like that.
I will have as many kids as I want, Ted. Why don't you do the environment a favor and stop spewing hot air from your stupid gaping maw. :bird:

Maybe put it on Pay Per View? :naughty:

Okay but since they abort a good portion of theirs shouldn't we take up the slack?

I don't expect anything less from the guy that married Hanoi Jane.

I dare the DUmmies to expose China's pollution record......

Maybe Julian Assange can put it on WikiLeaks' "to-do" list. :rotf: :lmao:
-
They would expect the gummint to pay for it. ::)
Now there's a gubmint program I could get behind! They'd **** it up anyway, though! They always do!
-
Maybe we should adopt a "One Ted" policy, regard the block as having been checked with Ted Williams, and get rid of your rich but crazy ass, Turner.
-
'Do as I say not as I do' should be the left's motto. They chant 'sacrifice for the greater good' but they never practice what they preach.

That's one program I could agree with!

Let's make it mandatory if we do it. Every woman that is able, must have one child and only one child. This would be one way for white people to keep their majority status. :fuelfire:
